🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Run for Clean Mysuru – Every Step Towards a Cleaner City! ♻️ What if a marathon could teach us to segregate waste too? On 1 November 2026, Clock Tower, Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, Mysuru, became a space for fitness, fun and environmental learning as runners took part in the Run for Clean Mysuru marathon. Going beyond the finish line, participants picked up waste-item cards along the route and sorted them into the appropriate bins, putting their waste segregation knowledge into action. With enthusiastic participation, this unique initiative brought the message of scientific waste management closer to the community - one step and one correctly segregated item at a time! Run for a cause. Segregate with purpose. Keep Mysuru clean! Funded by @sbifoundation | In association with Mysuru City Corporation | Implemented by Hasiru Dala. #RunForCleanMysuru #WasteSegregation #ScientificWasteManagement #CleanMysuru #SBIFoundation #MysuruCityCorporation #HasiruDala by @hasiru_dala
Every old saree has a story. Sooji Mallige gives that story a new life. 🌸 What was once discarded is transformed into something beautiful and useful, creating livelihoods while keeping textile waste away from landfills. Started with the support of Hasiru Dala, Sooji Mallige, Mangaluru, brings together 22 women who are building economic independence through creativity, collaboration and upcycling. In just eight months, the initiative has helped divert approximately 10–12 tonnes of old clothes from landfills. This is more than upcycling. It is about women creating opportunities, reclaiming value from waste and shaping a more sustainable future. ♻️ Give old clothes a new story. Be part of the change. To donate your old clothes in Mangaluru, please contact us at 9663506158, 9902129528, 9110878514, 7624881877 or 9591505092. #SoojiMallige #TextileUpcycling #WomenLedEnterprise #CircularEconomy #WasteToWorth #HasiruDala #SustainableLivelihoods #Mangaluru by @hasiru_dala
Buguri Library, Bharat Nagar, Mysuru, created a space for children to learn, explore, and experience new things through a series of engaging activities. The Dasara holiday programme brought together theatre-based learning, exposure visits, and health awareness sessions, offering children opportunities to learn beyond their everyday routines. Through these activities, children explored their creativity, expressed themselves, strengthened their communication skills, and developed a better understanding of health and hygiene. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and active participation made the sessions lively and meaningful. Each activity became an opportunity to discover something new, build confidence, and create joyful learning experiences together. #hasirudala #buguri #bugurichildrenslibraries #bugurimysuru by @hasiru_dala
An entertaining, yet thoughtful marathon by @hasiru_dala to create awareness among citizens of Mysore on SWM! Moments captured by @charon_narayan According to India’s Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, waste is segregated at the source into four distinct categories: • Wet Waste: Biodegradable kitchen scraps, food leftovers, fruit and vegetable peels, and garden waste meant for composting or bio-methanation. • Dry Waste: Recyclable materials such as plastics, paper, metal, glass, wood, and rubber routed to Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). • Sanitary Waste: Items like diapers, sanitary napkins, tampon applicators, and condoms that require secure wrapping and separate handling. • Special Care Waste: Hazardous or delicate household items like paint cans, batteries, bulbs, thermometers, and expired medicines that must go to authorized agencies or collection centres. by @hasiru_dala
2,500 BAGS. ZERO WASTE. ONE BIG STEP TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY! 🌱♻️ What happens to clothes that we no longer use? At Hasirudala, Mangalore, they get a beautiful second life! I visited Hasirudala at Bejai Kapikad Road, Mangalore, where a wonderful group of women are transforming rejected and unused clothes into beautiful, reusable bags of different sizes and designs — laptop bags, pouches and much more! These clothes are primarily collected through Vana Trust, headed by Jeeth Roche, and various gram panchayats that collect unused clothes from their residents. And here's something worth appreciating! ❤️ The organizers of Mangalore Blue Run have placed an order for 2,500 such bags. Interestingly, these bags cost MORE than factory-made bags stitched using brand-new materials. But the organizers consciously chose this option because their priority is sustainability, reuse and supporting local livelihoods rather than simply finding the cheapest alternative. That's what meaningful sustainability looks like! These 2,500 bags will be part of Mangalore Blue Run, happening on November 8, starting from Kendra Urwa School Ground, Mangalore. An event that is not just about running but also about running responsibly. No disposable plastic water bottles, steel cups for hydration and reusable cloth bags made from discarded clothes. Let's appreciate the organizers, the women behind these bags and everyone making sustainability happen on the ground. 🌍 #MangaloreBlueRun #Hasirudala #Sustainability #Mangalore by @hasiru_dala
Session of the Month | Mysuru Buguri Library At Mysuru Buguri Library, children stepped into the world of Gajapati Kulapati through an engaging storytelling session. Taking the story beyond the pages, children explored their creativity by shaping little elephants out of clay. A display of clay elephants, along with story-related elements, brought the experience together, making the session a blend of storytelling, imagination and hands-on exploration. A space where stories were not just heard but experienced, imagined and brought to life through little hands and big imaginations. #hasirudala #buguri #bugurichildrenslibraries #bugurimysuru by @hasiru_dala
