I've always loved fantasy, science fiction and horror. I've always been fascinated by the possibility of giving life to something completely imaginary and making it feel real. That's part of why I write monster romance.

But there's another reason.

I've always understood what it feels like to be different. To feel too sensitive, too shy, too strange, or simply out of place. As a reader, that made me want to see something different from the usual monster romance.

I didn't want monsters who were essentially humans made attractive by adding claws, fangs or a different skin.

I wanted monsters.

Beings who could be wounded and fascinating, but also frightening, flawed, selfish or capable of causing harm.
And I wanted women who could meet them without disappearing into the relationship.

Women with ambitions, intelligence, desires and lives of their own.

I'm interested in the kind of relationship where attraction doesn't erase disagreement. Where two people can want each other while standing on opposite sides of something. Where curiosity comes before understanding. Where intimacy takes time. Where emotional and physical conflict can coexist with desire.

And where neither character has to become simpler for the relationship to work.

That's the kind of monster romance I want to explore through Has Umbra.

Not because I want to make monsters less strange. Because I want to see what happens when we allow the strangeness to remain. #monsterromance #writercommunity #selfloveclub #monsterromancewriter by @hasumbra_

Her Inner Shadow has always been about more than one thing.

It's a space where I write about growth, identity, ambition, perfectionism and the process of building a meaningful life.

But it's also a place where I share fiction.

Through Has Umbra, I explore monster romance, folk horror, fantasy, horror and other worlds that exist mostly in my imagination.

These aren't two completely separate parts of me.

They're two ways I express myself.

One looks inward.

The other looks outward into creatures, relationships, worlds and possibilities that don't exist yet.

And sometimes the two meet.

That's what Her Inner Shadow is.

So, who is Has Umbra?

Has Umbra is my fiction identity.

I'm an Italian writer, recently graduated in Modern Literature and now studying herbal sciences.

I write monster romance, folk horror, dark fantasy, science fiction, horror and whatever else I feel compelled to imagine.

I'm interested in stories that explore deep emotions, complicated relationships and difficult situations, with women who have ambitions, intelligence and lives of their own.

I'm fascinated by nonhuman beings: creatures that can be wounded, frightening, curious, loving, cruel or desperate to be understood without becoming innocent simply because we understand them.

And while fiction is one side of what I do, it's not the only one.

Through Her Inner Shadow, I also write about growth, identity, ambition and the process of becoming.

Has Umbra is where I explore the worlds I imagine. Her Inner Shadow is where I explore both those worlds and the life I'm building outside them.
