So... I randomly wrote a YA book. 🦩
⠀
It’s kind of the project I was destined to do, which I never realized until I did it. Three years later and I have this now.
⠀
Huge thanks to everyone who gave feedback, brainstormed with me, read early drafts, or just tolerated me ranting about three-act structure and straight teen boys. 🌞
⠀
I think the book’s good and fun tbh 🐊🌈 and I hope you all do, too. But I'm also genuinely excited to get one-star reviews that attempt to cancel my problematic straight-boy king, Asher. 👑
⠀
Buy it! Share it!
Hand it to a random high schooler on the street. Tell your favorite bookstore. Or just tell me you bought it even if you didn’t. 🏖️📦
⠀
I clearly have no idea how to promo this, but I’ll be doing it for the next three months. Feel free to mute me until then. 💅
⠀
📚 OFFICIAL LAUNCH DATE: October 14
📦 Paperback: Available now on Amazon
📱 Ebook: Available for pre-order everywhere (Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play, Ingram, etc.)
⠀
🔗 Linktree in bio.
Love you all 🌴
⠀
P.S. Shoutout to art god @terrorifico_napalm for the perfect cover.

ASHER DIAMOND IS DEFINITELY GAY by Andrew Extein (fiction)
-
This book gave me a black eye. If you’re a fan of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but don’t think Greg takes things far enough, this one’s for you. Straight dude pretending to be gay to get out of a sticky situation is a golden premise. Fun, quick read.

Today, October 14, 2025, my YA novel Asher Diamond is Definitely Gay has been let loose into the world. It’s chaotic, fucked up, problematic, rude, weird, gross, and embarrassing. Asher is a hypocrite, uses people, and doubles down on selfishness over and over.

But—like me, like all of us—he’s good. He’s complicated. He’s a dick and a good son and a good friend and a shitty friend and everything and nothing.

This has been a surprisingly personal project. I’ve learned a lot about myself, my past, and who I am. I hope you will take the time to read it and think about yourself as well. The fucked-up glorious teen you were, are, or want to be.

Go ride with Asher up and down I-95. Love Asher. Love yourself.

Peace out baby G. by @hategrime

I think I forgot to share this piece with you.
A few nights ago (well, more like over a month ago), I got an email from @hategrime asking if I’d be interested in illustrating the cover of his first novel—a cover that had to be almost literally a flood of 90s/00s references while also defining the main character.

Today this book is out in the world, and you can easily find it through @hategrime account, bookstores and Amazon.
Forever grateful to the people who keep believing in illustration and allowing me to be part of processes like this. by @hategrime

Kewl review from BookLife..."brash, pointed, unapologetically impolite," "Extein’s painfully funny young adult debut is a raucous ride through the crisscrossed paths of identity." by @hategrime
