I weigh in, no socks, just a singlet
in my mode, I'm ready to bring it.
Whistles echoing the room
It's just a sport some may say, why let it consume?

It's more, much more
this isn't a match, but a legacy in motion.
A family and union of fire and determination.

Everyday a battle faught
many lessons have been taught.
The day comes to an end
squeezing my girls so tight they're more than my friend.
They tell me "it's time to go"
but that means taking off my shoes and leaving the mat below.

I don't want to take off my shoes.
Not yet, not today.
Am I ready for it all to fade away?

One more shot
one more sprawl
one more spin.
Daily, I crave a win.

Without these shoes, who am I?
An inner me will die.
I won't recognize myself, I cry.

So I take it in
one more breath
then we all packed up and left

With my shoes in my bag
I feel my wrestling spirit drag
she's still there on the mat.

Tears fall and a lump in my throat
but no worries if overnight I'll float.

It's worse that a breakup
it might be a nightmare
so I wait to wake up.

I am not sure how to feel
but I know, wrestling, it's been real. 🧷

This piece is one of those works that took me far too long to do and to be honest with you I know it looks unfinished. However, I realized that is entirely the point.

My story with this sport continues even if I don't touch a mat everyday. Daily I push myself past my "limits" because I know that limit does not exist. Wrestling showed me that even in the lowest worst moments your life there is still excellence within you. It gave me purpose, it gave me passion, and most importantly, a family. Wrestling is more than a sport. More than a story. It is a life sentence. Wrestling is and forever will be apart of who I am, and that chapter will always remain open.🧷 by @hatties.hands

My hands also paint portraits now? A new skill I'm still learning how to do, but a challenge I had fun solving. These were commissioned by @preschool_sports. 🛥️🛟⚓️

I would also like to announce that I am off to study scenic design at UNCSA (University of North Carolina School of Art), and I could not have done it without everyone's support!Special thank you to the people who let me create art on their hands this summer. I had a so much fun and I thank you for giving me a new way to express myself.
