I know a lot of you have heard me yap about my photoshoot with @lucylariot but I finally have time/the courage to post the photos.

I had known for a while I wanted to shoot with Anna but was waiting for the right set. When she posted about the high fantasy/romantasy set, I was so excited! The backdrop reminded me not of another universe but of a pulpy gothic romance cover! I emailed her and she was totally in. Anna made all my dreams come true for hair/makeup, photos, editing, all of it. She was the absolute best! I genuinely cannot believe how I look/how cool these photos came out.
For anyone in the tri-state I cannot recommend Anna enough! Her work is incredible, she’s so prompt, cool, and really helps execute your vision. Cannot say enough nice things about her and her work. I genuinely want to go back a shoot a Victorian Gothic look with her.

Anyways, please enjoy part one of my shoot with her. Aka on this Valentine’s Day, I don’t need a man, I can protect myself. (Also, I totally plan to commission a painting of these photos because I have to commit to the cover bit.) by @hauntedhousereads

I am on day seven of work! However, I have a moment to get to relax before work. Clocked into the self care factory by bringing @taylorlgrothe Lethal Kiss for my companion read to a lovely brunch. I am so excited to finish this and get a finished copy this October (October 20, 2026 to be exact.) If you haven’t make sure to look at Taylor’s fall tour schedule and join any of her stops.

Also big thank you to @tornightfire for an early arc. You made my fall dreams come true. by @hauntedhousereads

Today is a big day for fans of @rachelharrisonsghost fans. It’s her seventh novel release day. (Not counting Bad Dolls, The Veil, and other short stories.)

I am almost done with Kiss Slay Replay! I love the waiting of a new Rachel Harrison novel (it fuels my year waiting to pick it up and read it as quickly as possible, but also re read during the year.) However, Rachel’s work means so much more to me than I have probably ever expressed? (No one generally wants to hear me Lolol, also I am very shy despite what may come off!! I keep things close to the chest.) In no particular order I have been in the room with Rachel for a while. I can fully remember what it was like at SoHo house for Such Sharp Teeth. I was so shy and embarrassed, but it was so cool @catnassidy remembered me from my review. (Also that event was so fun.)

However, since Cackle in 2021, I have found a home in her art that makes me feel seen. Characters who are human, characters who think like me, feel like me. Writing that is fun, funny, emotional, and whip smart. Her writing has brought me some of my best friends. It’s part of why I joined this space, to talk about authors like Rachel! I am truly so lucky to exist on this same timeline as her. If you haven’t, pick up her work. I’d scream it from the rafters if I could.

I think a lot of us will see ourselves, our friends, our own family in Willa. Such Sharp Teeth reminded me I am more than my assault, Willa reminds me that I too can survive anything.

Also, Rachel, from the bottom of my heart, *thank you*. Is it corny to say I love you and that your kind gift is beyond my wildest dreams? Thank you for perceiving me. I wish I always felt like sunshine, but I will try my best. by @hauntedhousereads

If you know me well enough, you know how much I love @jennmariethorne and @leeykelly, especially when they collaborate on a new historical mystery/thriller. First off, thank you to @emergingmt for a copy of The Midnight Show (it was such a treat and I appreciate it so much.) Second, I am here to scream in the void how much I loved this book.

It took me longer than I would have liked to get to The Midnight Show because I waited for an audiobook to pair with my read. (Thank you, Libby.) And boy was the it worth the wait! An audiobook with a full cast to match makes for an incredible read. Plus, I always find I read this author duo exactly when I need it. From pacing, the epistolary structure, and that ending! It’s exactly what I need these days.

Let this be the sign you pick up The Midnight Show! Do it for me, or at least because you love a good SNL/1980s tv themed mystery. OR you too also love @jennmariethorne and @leeykelly. by @hauntedhousereads

Another Dark Ink at @doylestownbookshop in the books! I was only able to come for Day 2 (super envious of everyone getting to attend day 3), but always thankful for this end of summer event.

It’s always so exciting to hear some of my favorite authors be in conversation with my beautiful and brilliant friends. It’s also so cool that this event is free! It’s such a lovely reminder that this space is so vibrant and filled with the kindest and smartest people.

Highlights included getting to see @inavioletnature, @pegt and @pawsitivelybookish who let me quote vines and proselytize. And favorite panel? Hard to choose but perhaps Literary Horror and the Unreliable Self. Though it’s always such a delight to hear @adamcesare talk books, @chuck_wendig talk apples, and see @johnlanganwriter wear his special shirt (sorry @paulgtremblay)

I think more than ever as I feel like a ghost/pretty invisible, or like unimportant in this space (lol), it’s such a tangible reminder that the people I know are the best. I think more than ever it’s so important to remember to focus on the good. Life is short and I feel that increasingly every day. There is no amount of words, gratitude, etc that can be given to share how thankful I am for my friends, this space, and the art authors create.

(Also I am so sorry to Chuck for the .5 of your cut out, it’s something I do to everyone!!! I am just a goofy guy.)

Ps - it was such a pleasure to meet @darrenwriter, see @rachelharrisonsghost and @tiffany_conlibros.) I am sorry to everyone else I did not post pictures of or tag. Truly, everyone who same yesterday I also apologize for yelling about capitalism ruining everything, etc. by @hauntedhousereads

It wouldn’t be so bad, would it? To be seen? To be known? For someone to peer through the layers, get past the skin and sinew, and uncover what is nested within… | 😈

Cannot believe this is my sixth (or seventh?!) @claymcleod release day event. In a small fact ever shocking to me, I have been reading Clay’s work for over a decade. During grad school, his Spiderverse comics kept me afloat. In 2024, his book Ghost Eaters came into my life. (I was at the Ghost Eaters release day event too!) A novel that expanded my reading, my universe, and made my life richer by bringing people like @alittlescreamishreads, @saraglassy, and @tiffany_conlibros (and so many others into my life.)

Tonight’s event was a reminder of what a community Clay brings with him. From his beautiful friendship with @rachelharrisonsghost and @catnassidy, to other authors and readers. He is so genuine, generous, and so full of love to share. I am always so lucky authors like him, Rachel, and Nat are so kind to readers like me. It never is beyond me how generous authors are sharing their work. Also, I cannot thank @editrixemma enough for sending me an Arc of Devil Inside. It means so much to me and I am always happy to support Clay’s work.

If you haven’t, pick up Devil Inside from your local indie like @twistedspinebooks @strandbookstore or @wordbookstores. Go to one of Clay’s upcoming events! (Or borrow from your local public library.) Cheer him on, share a bit of yourself and let the Devil inside. Read a beautiful novel that is a love letter to love, exploring love, and possession.

I am not cool, I am not an influencer, I am just a person who loves reading and hope you take your chance on horromance. Thank you again to like literally everyone. I am such a weird little chaos goblin. Now to camp out for the next book by Clay. by @hauntedhousereads

Last month I went a little bananas on the Birthday Book Buying™️. Who am I to deny myself? I had seen so much hype and positive reviews for @peyjune sophomore novel The Monsters We Made, I had to pick it up.

I devoured this fun read! It’s perfect for summer. We follow a Paranormal Investing YouTuber whose dream is to solve the mystery of a small town’s local legend of Old Lucky 👾 (cryptid amirite). From missing towns folk, injured cows, and weird berry jam - this was a blast.

Young adult novels have been itching the type of stories I want to read this summer. From queer representation, overcoming difficulties, and learning to grow, these stories feel like the perfect bite of summer. I cannot recommend enough that everyone pick up The Monsters We Made. And if anyone needs me, I am read Bad Creek now! (Another perfect summer read. Also the dead grass was NOT a paid actor 😭.) by @hauntedhousereads

Happy release day to @sarahinkley.jpg! I have been so excited to get my goober hands on The Red Sacrament. Even though I am on vacation and visiting my parents I made sure to pick up this new release from @tombolobooks.

Unfortunately I cannot make this Friday’s release event at the @strandbookstore with @catnassidy (I have work 🥲) but YOU 🫵 should go. Go sink you fangs into The Red Sacrament and support this new release. by @hauntedhousereads

Whenever I come home to Orlando there are a few places I always like to visit. One is @thenewromanticsbooks. I love @paigelavoieauthor books and since her last visit to The Ripped Bodice, it’s been easiest to pick up signed copies of her newest releases from The New Romantics. I love picking up a paranormal/monster romance, especially on vacation home.

This time I also picked up @sgbenoit newest release from @zandoprojects @slowburn.reads. If you see me reading both down here, plz, do not disturb 👼. by @hauntedhousereads

Genuinely always so excited for a new @paulgtremblay release! I have had the fortune of seeing Paul in conversation with several authors, but Paul with @gradyhendrix had me wheezing.

To quote @vampires.library - there is a short character in Dead But Dreaming of Electric Sheep. That said, I do agree with Grady, short kings need representation too. (I kid, Paul!)

If you haven’t join Paul on one of his tour stops, pick up his newest release, and fight the good fight against AI. by @hauntedhousereads
