Legacy. Innovation. Leadership. Award. 🇭🇹

Deeply honored to receive the HAUP Legacy Award for Legacy, Innovation & Leadership from Haitian Americans United for Progress with my proprietary mental model Authentic Intelligence® engraved into the award itself. 🥹🙏🏾

That means more to me than I can express & honoring the Francoeur / Nicolas Family, in the presence of my Mom @francoeurlinda1 Sister @dimplegirlmimi & dearest friends @sandyjcruz_ @djrush1244 @drpeggynyc literally a dream come true 🥹😭🙏🏾

For more than 50 years, HAUP has supported immigrant and refugee communities through advocacy, education, resettlement, health services, and resources that help families build lives with dignity.

In a moment where Haitians and immigrants continue to face harmful rhetoric and policies, that work feels especially urgent.

In my remarks, I reflected on what our history has already taught us:

Haiti was not born from individual brilliance. It was born through collaboration, unification, vision, courage, & strategy.

The Haitian Revolution 🇭🇹✊🏾 changed what oppressed people around the world believed was possible. And even before Haitian independence, Haitians fought alongside Americans during the American Revolution & aided several revolutions around the world!

My heritage is not ornamental to me. It is instruction. It is evidence. It is inheritance.

When I am called to do something difficult or seemingly impossible, I remember that I come from people who already did the impossible.

We are honored to recognize the Hostin Family, whose remarkable legacy of excellence, service, and achievement was established by the late Dr. A. Emmanuel Hostin and Dr. Maria Jesus Hostin, and continues through their children: Dr. Manny Hostin – Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Helen Hostin – OB-GYN,
Carlos Hostin – Project Manager.
