APPLICATIONS OPEN: Calling for creatives and researchers from Southeast Asia and beyond!

We are interested in hosting thoughtful, non-extractive applications that seek to explore, research, or produce work about Sarawak’s people, places, and perspectives.

No finished outputs required; as artists ourselves, we understand the value of works-in-progress.

As a community-rooted organisation, we only require our resident artists to share their knowledge and skills with our local community in the form of a sharing session and a workshop / film screening / etc. Swipe to see some of the public sessions hosted by our 2025 resident artists!

Hi, I'm Jo. ‘Pupa’ is a miniature set created as part of my intern project at HAUS KCH. The set features a small room reflective of my personal life and growing up. Visitors may observe the room up close and find things that may be intriguing, relatable or bizarre.

This sharing session intends for me to connect with folks and have a nice chat about interests, hobbies, growing up, or even about the weather.

Come by at HAUS KCH, bring your friends along as the session includes a Finnish indie movie screening, ‘Leningrad Cowboys Go America’.

As this session is free to enter, come freely and go safely.

Join us for a sporadic, casual pop-up session tonight, during which we shall share some findings of our workshop with 4 master weavers from Sungai Asap on how to make a Hong, or Orang Ulu sunhat!

📍6pm onwards, 2F, HAUS KCH

From 17 - 21 September 2026, we traveled with Kuching-based artists to Uma Kelap, Sungai Asap, to learn how to make the sunhat from master weavers, from scratch. Joining us in seeking this valuable, fading knowledge were 10 local participants from the longhouses.

Come and learn how our trip went, and while it lasts, have a taste of the freshwater fish we caught!

Keeping the Malaysia Day spirit alive by celebrating the voices that shape our local arts scene! 🇲🇾

This week, we got to talk with Malaysian music artist @leaism to talk about her evolution from performing on the streets of KL to gracing bigger stages. She reflects on how delving into local culture and heritage has shaped her identity as an artist, and how her vulnerable 12-track project, ‘Kesuma’, helped her connect deeply with fans—even helping some through their own grief.

CROSS OVER Vol.64 In Malaysia

Come October 2026, CROSS OVER, a travelling exhibition by a Japanese alternative art collective active since 2017, will be held at HAUS KCH in Kuching for its 64th edition.

CROSS OVER Vol. 64 celebrates contemporary expression through the works of 15 Japanese artists with a variety of styles, from paintings to sculptures.

Admission is free, so please do come along!
