#speciesism is when people only think traditionally cute or cuddly animals are loveable or deserve respect. Many animals like @tinkermcswagins_ ' s snake Tanya here have been demonized because they are misunderstood. All animals deserve respect, even the ones you eat. Buy Kosher or Halal if you can, and don't support mistreatment and ultimate disrespect of animals! by @hausofvolta

Last day in Hawaii, everyone was out in the water...I decided I wanted some cute beach pictures.
I found a stump, put on the timer and got to business.

I know there's a lot of head noise around getting your pictures taken and how to look good in them. I've taught so many people to do it, seems simple once you get some pointers. But you can learn so much just by doing it on your own.
They won't all be stellar, I included the one meant for the trash as an example. The hardest part will always be getting over yourself and perceived insecurities. Embody who you want to be mentally, and the camera will reflect it back to you. taken in Hau'ula, Oahu by @hausofvolta

Happy to of been in on a meeting with @celebratelifecm and research students at @cedarssinai to give our perspective as #cancerpatients #cancersurvivors it feels good that all this experience and knowledge gets to get passed on to those who can use it for good!

Love one another
Be kind to one another
Give to those who are in need
Spread Love, Beauty and Peace to all
That is respectable, honorable and good.
Make peace with your shadows before they consume you.
How a person understands or believes in these core principles isn't important. The religious beliefs, ect aren't what's important, there's no brownie points for waving any certain kind of flag.

Today at the @lucasmuseum this piece by #HenryHintermeister stopped me in my tracks. It illustrated exactly what I experience.
I've had #hyperfantasia all my life but had no idea only 3% of the population has it. One of my heroes Nickola Tesla had it even more severe than me!
What is hyperfantasia ? My imagination is always going. If you're talking, I see it all in my head. When I'm reading, I see the characters, background and action....all in my head. When I started getting into reading I asked my Mom 'When you read, do you see it all in your head, like you're standing in the room watching it?'
She said 'No'
I answered with 'why even bother reading!'
The opposite, aphantasia, is also present in about the same percentage of the population.

When you've cheated death so many times it's hard not to remember those who didn't. Loved ones who succumbed to the voices shouting to end it. May you never know how that feels, but many of us do.
In honor of Suicide Prevention Month
May we realize there's some reason we are still here, why we weren't successful if we tried. That anyone who didn't make it out wasn't 'selfish', we will never know what it's like inside their head.
One of my beloved cousins didn't make it out, when I told Tia that he loved taking crime scene photos instead of displaying a cheesy grin. She loved that idea and picked it up. It looked so cool that I decided I too wanted to take up the habit, I don't look as good as she does, but I need practice!
Living in fear of death is normal, but in order to truly live....you gotta let it go!

Our ancestors are those who've moulded us by blood and by spirit. #elizabethtaylor has always been a brunette icon, as one it's important to see yourself in your icons. Her advocacy is responsible for the reason we have so many queer elders still here to guide us. I thanked her for her sacrifices and asked for her blessings upon mine. You know, I don't wish cancer on anyone, but I've met the most fantastic people that way.
Is a sentiment I've heard echoed in close circles ever since I was diagnosed. And if I had to endure that just to have the privilege of knowing such beautiful people so be it!
Thank you my friend for a wonderful evening and reminder that just being us is exactly where we are supposed to be!

It's about #conqueringfears that's how we glow
Fear is a very real fiend
It grows when you look at it
Research it
For those of us with the trait of rumination it can feel impossible
For anyone with trauma it can be automatic
Either way it dies when you ignore it, every fear feels logical or else we wouldn't believe it
I swam in the ocean without a safety device, with sharks no less (they aren't what scares me)
I couldn't dive down, but I will next time. You can see how close my 13 year old got, goals right?
Give fear the finger and fly, or in our case, swim!
