This is the 4th film I have coached Jacob on. He has worked with so many of the best actors and directors out there and his knowledge is vast, especially for such a young man. The best I can do for him as a coach is to discuss the story and character, suggest objectives and physicality, then get out of the way so he can do his thing and trust his instincts. His acting style is so understated and intuitive, too much analysis is not helpful. He’s been giving great performances an actor since he was a little kid, and it feels like now that he’s a young man, he’s just getting started showing the world what he can do. A studio is only as special as the people who fill the room.

The actors who show up, take risks, support each other, share what they’ve learned, and keep pushing themselves forward are what make the Haven community what it is.

Haven teacher Loretta Walsh is an award nominated actor and has been a professional performer for over 20 years. She is most well known for her 9 seasons on the Hallmark series When Calls the Heart.

A classically trained actor, Loretta is also the founder of theatre company Kindred Entertainment and has starred in over 30 plays including: Dinner with Friends, Lobby Hero, Sex with Strangers, THIS, Either We Talk or We Don’t Talk, White Hot, Othello and Hamlet.

Scene Study with Loretta Walsh gives you the opportunity to work with another actor in real time — to listen, respond, take risks, make bold choices and experience the unpredictable dynamics that happen when two actors are actually sharing a scene.
