These last two weeks have been nothing short of insane. 🥹 From the growth on my page, the orders, the collabs, the upcoming events and activations I have planned, I’m just blown away with a mix of shock, excitement and pride.

Since so many are new here…hi everyone, my names Hayden and I’m the artist behind this page, the painted bags and A Coastal Hand.

Everyone says they didn’t expect anything big in their life to take off like that or happen to them and that’s partially true for me, but when I started posting on Instagram a year ago, I kind of just knew something cool would happen. I had big aspirations and big dreams for myself, but to be able to do everything I’ve done with this page in just my first year… that I actually didn’t see coming.

I’ve done and failed at quite a bit in my life and became quite known for leaving behind my doctorate career, which so many of you remind me when you come to my events lol. After I failed my NPTE license exam for doctorate, it felt like that was the catalyst to building who I was without outside influence and voices.

I broke up with my long term bf, I lived alone for awhile, I bartended and waitressed, I coached, I got certified as a somatic practitioner, I ran events, I opened my practice, I became a marketer, I built an online product, I opened my AAU club, all to slowly find what brought me to feeling closer to myself.

I’m beyond grateful for the last year, for you guys and I’m beyond proud of the effort I’ve put into myself and this business. You guys are an inspiration to continue doing what I love and I hope I’ve been the same to you.

There’s a difference to be proud of your accomplishments and to be proud of yourself. Being proud of who you are takes courage and for years I felt like I was chasing the time to not only be proud of what I’ve done, but who I was.

I hope you take this page as the reminder that timing is everything, age means nothing, intuition is important, and a dream is not just a word in the dictionary.

Have fun, enjoy yourself, and continue to build up that weird personality. It’s cute.

Here’s to another year of always doing what you love 🫶🏼

UPDATED schedule!

Just a quick little update announcement for my event list as we approach the end of October!

Your girl got her Thompsons Point dates mixed up!! I will NOT be at the 18th one, but I WILL be there on the 25th! So if you’re planning, then plan for that. That’s my final revision.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I LOVE COMMISSIONS!

BUT, to help me out and you this holiday season, I’m adjusting my commission ordering timeframe!

My commission list ordering form and website will be closing on Sept. 21st and will be reopening again on Oct. 1st, but only for 10 days! So get as many commissions as you want to get during those first 10 days of the month because it will close again until the 1st of November!

All this information will be posted in my stories this weekend and up until that fantastic day of Oct. 1st! If you need to find the info, I explain it all in my FAQ highlight in my page, in my bio, and in this post which will be pinned at the top of my page!

It’s those big dreams that force you to work harder than you have before.

When I tell you that I have changed my career path, my mind, my “purpose” so many times.. I mean it.

And all for the better, even though I probably wouldn’t have said that in the moment.

When you’re young and the eldest, you do so many things in hopes for high achievement or to make others happy in the turns of your success, but you miss so much because of it.

3 years ago, I got my doctorate in PT and when I went to license, I failed the NPTE by 1 point. COMPLETELY distraught, I took it again 3 months later. And failed it again by a question. It felt like a sick joke.

And if you’re familiar with the NPTE, you can only take it 6 times. That was it, so in my naive brain, I thought well I’ve used a third of my chances so I’ll take a year off not thinking about it. And that year became 3.

Not knowing what to do, I continued to bartend and waitress.

So, I started my journey with somatics, which led to me getting certified, becoming a practitioner, opening my own office, and taking on clients! (All until my art when I had to stop)

And then I started sharing my story on social media, which became 20k followers, 6 figures, hundreds of students, a digital product, and contentment- and then it abruptly stopped

Lost.. I then got the opportunity to coach, which led to coaching 2 middle school sports, coaching an AAU team, to then opening up my AAU program for girls of all ages, which became full time- year around and what I still do now actually.

Realizing I can do whatever I want, that led to me picking up an old hobby, that was once a dream of mine, which led to almost a year of this page.

1600 painted bags, over hundred events, multiple collabs, and more opportunities then I thought because I decided to step up a table one day and paint an oyster again.

I spent years following another path I didn’t like and always said “I don’t quit”. But, in fact, quitting something that wasn’t even what you liked to begin with and then using the next few years to find that instead? That’s the real advice!

Will I regret it? Never.

Does this mean we’ve made it 🫣😫

Last Sunday was our last day at L.L Bean and we spent 6 hours watching you all have the time of your life…

It was so slammed we didn’t get any pics, like there was a LINE

We started Sunday off with 500 prints in the machine and walked away with 20 left 😳 Yall are insane like that

I always say it…

I just loveeeee what art represents to me, but just in general. I think we down play how healing it can be to express ourselves and to be child like!

Sooo many of you will come up to me at my markets and say how much you love my story or how much you relate to it or how inspiring it is to you, and it ALWAYS makes me emotional (so thank you..) but also really makes me appreciate my life.

A lot of you know I have my doctorate in PT and worked as a somatic therapist in my own office before I picked up a paint brush a year ago, but some you of you don’t!

Some of you know I bartended for years and worked in the service industry for almost 10.

Some of you know I ran and owned a basketball program for girls of every grade for almost 3 years.

Some of you know I was with my ex for almost 7 years and that that relationship nearly broke me, but also brought me back to life after I left FL and moved back home.

It all depends on which reel you see or which post you read and in some ways you’ll find a way to relate to my story in some small piece. But it’s what brings you in and it’s what makes me feel like I have such a community; my story!

It’s why I love translating your stories on these bags because even though some don’t know what the art means.. you do and that’s honestly why I paint.

Because no art represents my ability to truly express myself, to give no fucks, to be able to appreciate me, and to be able to paint that for you guys is truly the best.

I’ve done everything there is when it comes to a job (picking up poop for $15/hr in SLC will do it) and here’s your reminder… nothing is a waste. EVERYTHING is a story you’ll be able to tell.

No regrets. No race. No wasted time. No meaningless heartbreaks. What you truly love or want to do will come when you can truly say you know who you are the moment and you love that about yourself. Timing be damned, cause it’ll work out ❤️
