To Coach Tim from the @ga_revolution for taking the time to come and speak on Hayden’s behalf and all that he has done to help get Hayden to this point in his soccer journey.

And of course to Coach Mark and Coach Barrett from @pointumenssoccer for believing in Hayden to sign him and become part of the Point University family. He is eager to begin working even harder to earn his spot and respect of the team and coaching staff.

As for Mom and Dad (Me), what else can we say other than how proud we are of him. His road has been bumpy, but he has persevered and grown from it, and knows it only becomes even more bumpy as this is just the beginning.

Firstly, Hayden doesn’t post much on IG. Most post are collaborations I do and invite him to. Just FYI which is why I’m doing this follow up post.

For those asking about Hayden after the game the other day, he is doing fine. He was held out of practice as a precaution but he should be back up and running this week. There was no actual diagnosis of concussion but I believe 100% he had his brain definitely rattled. Either from taking the shot to his face, or the knee in the back of the head. Or even both. But I spoke to him last night and he sounded good and said he felt good. Make sure you have sound on for the video too! The impact that free kick was insane but the sound it made when it hit him is even crazier. To this point he was having a good first 20 minutes up till that last tackle. And his ankle is doing better. It was bruised but he said he’s fine with that too. by @hayden.shellhammer

Today’s match started out strong for Hayden and the defense. He was doing what he does best- defend very well. Unfortunately, he may have received a slight concussion after taking a free kick to the head, then later a knee to the head, both occurring in the first half vs Thomas University. He was unable to continue missing the second half. He took that shot to the face like a champ tho! He’s a fighter and always gives 100%.

The good news is, we went out to dinner afterwards and shopped for some supplies and he seemed like he got better before we left for the drive back home. We wanted to make sure he was going to be ok.

But how about that bicycle kick from the Thomas striker! And an equally good save from the Point keeper!

Been seeing a lot of Haydens X teammates from the @ga_revolution lately playing in college. Love it! Tonight was a grind out 0-0 draw but Point had more then enough chances to score, but that pesky ricardo19_00 ricardo19_00 wasn’t gonna let it happen. Spent the summer working on specifics with this kid before he heads back to his university team. Our main goal today was hitting long balls. Changing the field of play, and doing it on a rope instead of a high backspin pass that hangs in the air and allows for the other team to challenge for the ball. As a CB, that’s normally how they hit a ball so getting him to change his tool (foot) takes some work. Toe down, leaning more over ball will get that drive into it. Filming his motion through the kick helps with understanding how his foot is hitting the ball and where its hitting it as well. Use the tools you have to help yourself improve. by @hayden.shellhammer

Last game of the collegiate season for Hayden. Not many highlights of him this game, but he helped once again in his team getting a goal to go up 1-0 in the 2nd half.
