Are all “box sets” and boxed wines created equal? Definitely not! Enjoy some Beethoven while you sip on something... hopefully fresh and clean, if it’s coming out of a box. On the other hand, if the box says it’s 1982 Petrus, I’d start asking questions.

Tonight, I attempt to identify a wine blind. Well actually, this isn’t tonight - more like a week and a half ago. And it isn’t really blind, since it came from my wine fridge..... but enjoy my slurping and agonizing deliberations anyway!

In this episode, as the kitchen fan tries to drown out everything else, I bring in my intrepid roommate @rigsrid2 and bring back @alwin_jurtschitsch ‘s #grunerveltliner , which I used merely as a prop in Episode 1. With Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in B minor, BWV 544 playing in the background, we try to engage in some Q and A, but to call this a Q and A would be a stretch. Enjoy!

Why do so many people regard #saintsaens as a second-rate composer? And why is Riesling STILL dismissed as “too sweet”? Whether or not we succeed in debunking these two myths, there was good music and good wine on the program tonight!

Both #Chardonnay and #Beethoven ‘s 9th could be tacky, but they can also be #beautiful - the reality is that they sit atop the throne of popularity for good reason. Why? Oh, I didn’t get into that in this episode. This is just an extended rant on the topic. Enjoy!

Tonight, we initiate a two-week test of one of the wine world’s more controversial devices. Hopefully we’ll remember about it two weeks from now! Sometimes, we hang on to a wine for more than a day... and it can even improve. Sometimes, composers re-use themes they wrote years ago, and it’s not a shortcut but an improvement!
