First day back to school for the babies!

We now have a 5th grader and a kindergartener.. how did that happen? 🥹 Watching them grow these past few years is something I’ll always be so grateful for, but I seriously have no idea how we got here so fast. Time, please slow down!! I just know these two are going to have the BEST school year especially with them both as Patriots now.

I need every Black boy to make it home to their momma. Every child—regardless of race or background—to make it home safely to their momma and their family. Every single time.

Everyone’s going to have their different opinions and feel how they feel on his case, but no parent should ever have to wonder where their child is or face the unimaginable heartbreak of losing them. My heart aches for Nolan’s momma, his family, his friends, and the entire community that has rallied around them. Keep praying for his family. Keep praying they figure out the truth. Keep praying it all comes out and they get any closure they possibly could from this.

As a society, we need to do a better job of truly loving ALL people. Real love protects. It notices. It speaks up. It refuses to ignore when someone’s feelings, or wellbeing aren’t being treated correctly. Sometimes… that also means having the courage to tell someone when they’ve said or done something hurtful or disrespectful. Proverbs 27:6 says “Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplied kisses.” It’s not harmless when an elderly person makes a racial joke. It’s not “just kids being kids” when children repeat prejudice they’ve heard from adults. Those moments shape our hearts and the hearts of the next generation. They also shape how people of color experience the world. Maybe Nolan really did tell his friends to leave the island and he would catch a ride with someone else. I don’t know what happened. But, what I do know is that he was left vulnerable. People failed to protect him. He was surrounded by hundreds of other people, and he was left vulnerable. Love is a verb. Just because you say someone is welcome, does not mean you love them. Just because you do not verbalize hatefulness, does not equate to love. We must all do better about our actions and reactions. That is love. Nolan deserved that. EVERYONE deserves that. by @hayygracee

The baby graduated K4 today! 🎓🤍

We are beyond proud of how smart, kind, and brave Wren is. He never stops amazing me, and watching him grow into such a sweet little boy has been one of my greatest joy’s.

Now it’s time for Wren to become a little Patriot and join big sister at school. Kindergarten, he is more than ready for you and we are so excited! 💙❤️ by @hayygracee

Pastor Qway’s message today was over the importance of children and it struck a nerve with me. He said children should be valued, welcomed, and protected. He also started off by saying children are blessings and I couldn’t think of a more perfect word to describe these 2. They have become the biggest little blessings for me. I’m so thankful that I get to help care for them and be apart of their lives. Sunday’s with them are my favorite days!
