Several years ago @mrcolinj left @sickkidsvs for @romtoronto, and I lost my favourite thought partner. (We used to hold innovation sessions — our party for two — to nerd out on projects like elevating our podcast and introducing digital impact reports. Now we’re producing our 7th season of the pod and digital reports are standard at the foundation, so time well spent, Colin!)We caught up during a walk after he first left, where Colin discussed the initial concept for a new exhibit on the cultural, criminal, and curative complexities surrounding the use of psychedelics. 😵‍💫 Already impressed by his vision and gumption, I was blown away today by the archeological, medicinal, and global scale of this exhibit. Visit now, and pick up a copy of the companion 📕 he edited. It’s🔥.Bravo, my Friend! by @hbank

Parents of babies born with extreme medical needs are at high risk of stress, anxiety, and depression. One doctor, Julia Orkin, took notice. In today’s episode of the SickKids VS Podcast @sickkidsvs🎙 hear how Dr. Orkin was there for Owen's mom, Julie @julieeenns, and how together they pioneered a SickKids initiative specifically designed to help parents keep their sick kids well – and keep themselves well, too. Charlie was born with a rare combination of heart defects. Her tiny heart, just barely the size of a strawberry, would have to be dismantled, rearranged and put back together again in one of the most complex surgeries. Even with decades of experience, her surgeon, Dr. Glen Van Arsdell, would need all the help he could get. That’s why he called on colleague and SickKids radiologist Dr. Shi-Joon Yoo to print a 3-D replica of her heart to prepare him. Listen to this week’s episode and find out what happens next. This week’s bonus @sickkidsvs podcast episode is all about COVID-19. I had the incredible opportunity to speak with Dr. Upton Allen, Chief of Infectious Diseases at @sickkidstoronto, about the research he’s doing to understand the virus and prep for a cure. He explains why scientists underestimated the threat and what our immune systems have to do with our ability to fight and recover. Link in bio for the full episode. by @hbank

Ten years ago, kids health care in Ghana was almost non existent. There were very few paediatricians, and even fewer paediatric nurses. Because of that, children died — many before their fifth birthday. So SickKids started a nurse training program. Now, ten years later, the change is unmistakable. Listen to this incredible story in the new episode of the SickKids VS podcast. It will inspire you - I promise. Subscribe in the link in my bio. by @hbank
