South East London’s @mattia.guarnera gives @douggillen a peek behind the curtain of his influences and inspirations.

Recorded as part of the recent @hbh_gallery exhibition “Are We Really Here?”

“Mattia deals with contemporary Black masculinity and the complex reality of life in the digital age.

His works are produced with an airbrush, which becomes the perfect tool for this investigation balancing extreme manual dexterity with a totally modern technology, blurring the lines between the digital and phsyical worlds.” - HBH

Victoria Cantons’ paintings are rooted in memory, autobiography and reflection. Her still life Meat transforms something familiar into something quietly psychological and unresolved.

Alongside this, Xu Yang’s dreamlike paintings weave together symbolism, fantasy and personal history—balancing delicacy with a subtle sense of unease.

Charlie Soffe's amazing multimedia practice, working across installation, music and print is rugged, industrial and painstakingly executed. Bringing together countless layers of figures these works are about identity and humanity in the city.

@annasampson__ ‘s photography subverts the traditional male gaze, reframing the body through a queer, self-authored perspective.

Her images move away from objectification, instead creating space for intimacy, agency and mutual looking. Often working with close collaborators, her photographs feel lived-in and personal—where vulnerability becomes a form of strength rather than exposure.
