🌱 What will it take to get more young people meaningfully involved in Ghana’s horticulture sector?

The Horticulture Business Platform (HBP) is convening a Youth in Horticulture Policy Dialogue to bring young people and key sector stakeholders together to discuss the barriers, opportunities and practical actions needed to strengthen youth participation in the sector.

The Dialogue will bring together young people already working in horticulture, aspiring entrants, agribusinesses, researchers, development partners and other sector actors for an open, solutions-focused conversation.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲.

The HBP Digital Marketplace Onboarding Workshop moved beyond introduction and into practical application.

Led by Michael Teye, participants worked directly on the platform, setting up accounts, developing business profiles, listing products and services, and exploring potential business connections.

The hands-on session gave businesses the opportunity to ask questions, test the platform and share feedback that will help inform its continued development.

From producers and input suppliers to service providers and buyers, the Marketplace is designed to help businesses improve their visibility and discover new connections across Ghana’s horticulture value chain.

The workshop marks an important step in moving the HBP Marketplace from launch towards active use.

On 16th September, the Horticulture Business Platform (HBP) brought together businesses and stakeholders for a Digital Marketplace Onboarding Workshop, introducing participants to the platform and its role in strengthening connections across Ghana’s horticulture sector.

Opening the workshop, Catherine Krobo Adusei, HBP Board Chair, called on businesses to see the success of the Marketplace as a shared responsibility.

Hilda Abambire of IDH encouraged participants to become ambassadors for the Marketplace, helping bring more businesses into the platform and strengthening participation across the sector.

Benjamin Agamah, HBP Project Manager, also shared the journey behind the Marketplace and the need for a more structured space where businesses can present their offerings, discover one another and explore new business relationships.

The message was clear: a marketplace becomes valuable when businesses actively participate in it.

🌱 CALL FOR PROPOSALS | HORTICULTURE SECTOR NEEDS ASSESSMENT

The Horticulture Business Platform (HBP) is inviting proposals from qualified independent consultants to undertake a comprehensive needs assessment of Ghana’s horticulture sector.

The study will identify and rank key regulatory, market, financial and operational constraints affecting actors across the horticulture value chain. The findings will help inform HBP’s policy engagements and contribute to its inaugural State of the Sector Report.

The assignment will involve surveys, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), analysis and validation of findings, reaching a minimum of 100 unique participants across the horticulture value chain.

📅 Proposal deadline: 21 September 2026
⏱️ Duration: 4 weeks from contract signing
💰 Budget: GHS 45,000
