As an entrepreneur myself, I know how difficult it can be to find the right opportunities, have your voice heard, or simply get a seat at the table.

That’s why building a platform that brings people together, opens doors, and makes meaningful conversations and partnerships possible means so much to me.

There’s still so much to learn, improve, and build. But I hope, in our own small way, we can help create a food system where more people feel included, more ideas have a chance to grow, and more voices help shape what comes next.

Because the future of food systems belongs to all of us. And it starts with what we build together. by @hbsblog

The future of food systems starts with us! 🚀

And if you’re an entrepreneur building something in the food sector, trust me when I say: We’re building this for you. Because we know what it feels like when no one builds it for us.

We know what it takes to chase a vision that everyone calls “too ambitious.”

When access to capital feels almost nonexistent.

When you don’t have the right connections, resources, or people opening doors for you.

When you have to work twice as hard just to get someone to believe in what you’re building.

We’ve been there. We’re still there in many ways.

That’s why FOOD FORWARD is more than a summit to us. It’s about creating the opportunities, connections, and platforms we wish we had when we started.

Eight months ago, this was a vision. Today, it’s a reality.

And seeing entrepreneurs connect with investors, startups find new opportunities, and voices that are too often overlooked finally have a seat at the table reminds me why we started.

But this is only the beginning.

We’re not just building an ecosystem. We’re building a community where ambition is encouraged, innovation is supported, and the next generation of food entrepreneurs has a real opportunity to succeed.

The future of food systems starts with us. And we’re just getting started. ❤️ taken in Toronto Ontario Canada by @hbsblog

Some goodbyes take longer to find words for. Maryam, yours has been one of them.

Grief is one of the hardest things for me to deal with. I have learned to process it in my own time, in the ways that help me find enough strength to confront the reality of losing someone. Sometimes, that means sitting with memories, reading old conversations and finding comfort in familiar things before I can put my feelings into words.

Since September 14, I have been doing all of that. Part of me is still in denial.

This loss feels especially difficult because I once wrote about your dreams, your work and the community you were building.

These slides hold some of those memories. Writing them has taken time, but I wanted to remember you with care. I wanted to write in a way that allows me to honour your life while giving myself room to process your absence.

Thank you for being part of my story, Maryam Muritala. Thank you for every door you opened.

Thank you for being part of the inaugural edition of the @womenofrubies_ Media Visibility Bootcamp. You were a strong advocate for strategic visibility, networking and personal branding, and you supported many female entrepreneurs in practical ways.

You would always remind anyone who cared to listen to archive their work. Thank you for putting that advice into practice yourself. You left us stories, milestones and memories we can return to, even as we struggle to accept that you are gone.

Rest peacefully, sis. I will remember you with love and gratitude. 🕊🫶🏿
