8/21/26 Peregrine Preserve “Forgotten Walk”

The several days leading up to this walk felt like an arrival, we were at the door of the most abundant stretch as House of Fig.

Together we entered tree time and a deep silence as we reacquainted partnerships with beings around us and expressing our shared stories.

I jokingly coined the “Forgotten Walk” because there is always a sense of ease when partnering with @hcltnc by @hcltnc

FREE! RSVP at hcltnc.org/events

Join Yoga Practitioner and Somatic Therapist Ashlyn Miller for an evening slowdown, connecting with yourself, others, and nature to cultivate a felt sense of belonging. Our time together will include a slow sensory walk, somatic inquiry, gentle yoga and meditation, nature journaling, and story.

A sense of belonging is a basic need we have as human beings, and while it may be inherent on some level, it demands participation to be truly felt. And place/land is a gentle, intuitive entry point as humans have lived in relationship with land since the dawn of humanity.

“You can learn to belong anywhere…if you choose. It’s an act of creation, and like all acts of creation, it’s also an act of love.” -Sharon Blackie by @hcltnc

What’s the Highlands - Cashiers Land Trust up to?

We’re out here cultivating a reciprocal relationship with nature by hosting free and public concerts on the lands we love and strive to know more deeply. Here, Topher Stephens, local musician and education and outreach coordinator performs songs inspired by his childhood growing up along Caney Fork in Tuckaseegee.

Author Robin Wall Kimmerer states “all flourishing is mutual” and “Humans are not separate from or above nature; we belong to a shared web of life where the well-being of every species depends on the well-being of others.”

We hope you can gather with us at a future event to celebrate this place we call home! #Lovenature #music #outdoors #highlandsnc #landtrust by @hcltnc
