So the Pentagon has decided the best way to teach us about consequences is to livestream a firing squad execution this December, and I keep thinking about the last time this country let the public watch someone die, which was 1936 in Kentucky, when the crowd got so out of hand that it helped end public executions for good. Iran, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, and Afghanistan under the Taliban still hold them today, and as far as I can find, none of them has ever streamed one live, so congratulations to us on setting a new low. What worries me most is what happens after, when the clips get chopped up and pushed into feeds by an algorithm that has never once asked whether a twelve-year-old should watch someone get shot, and research on violent footage already links watching it to lasting fear and PTSD symptoms. Tell me in the comments whether you'd watch.

There's a moment in a girl's life when the world starts treating her body like public property, and most of us were far too young to have words for it when it happened. I made this video because one simple question cracked something open for me, and I have a feeling it will do the same for some of you. We put a lot of energy into teaching girls to brace for this and laugh it off, and almost none into asking who keeps doing it and why nobody stops them. I keep coming back to the idea that information by itself was never going to fix us. We have more knowledge at our fingertips than any generation before us, and somehow we feel further apart than ever. What changes people is sitting across from each other and talking through the tough subjects with enough patience to really hear the answer. I know that feels impossible in today's world, and I feel it too. Start with one person this week, ask them something real, and then just listen.

The chair of the FTC stood next to JD Vance yesterday and bragged that this administration is working to "protect white American men from discrimination," and I need everyone to sit with how absurd that is, because white men are not a persecuted class in this country, they wrote the laws, they still hold most of the political and corporate power, and history is very clear about what that power did to anyone who looked different, from the genocide of Indigenous people to the Jim Crow laws that kept Black Americans from the ballot box, so while civil rights protections for everyone else get rolled back and the EEOC runs outreach campaigns for the group that has always been on top, I have to ask, are you ready to get your pitchforks yet?
