We honestly can't believe we're finally saying this...
HEA Bookshop's very first brick-and-mortar shop is coming to Liverpool! 🩷

After a year of searching, two properties falling through, and wondering if it was ever going to happen, third time really was the charm.

We've found the most incredible building right in the heart of Liverpool. It's central, easy to get to... and absolutely HUGE!

The building has been sitting derelict for 15 years, but we're ready to pour so much love into it and transform it into a haven for romance readers. A place to browse books, meet fellow readers, relax, attend events, and feel completely at home.

This is something we've dreamed about for so long, and we can't wait to take you along for every step of the journey. There'll be plenty of dust, paint, chaos, and probably a few tears along the way... but we already know it'll all be worth it.

The official location reveal, inside tour, and opening date are all coming soon. For now, we've got a full renovation ahead of us... let's do this! 🩷📚

The mural by @quirkydesignco_ is quickly becoming one of my favourite features in the whole bookshop!

I honestly can't wait to show you the finished piece because it's just gorgeous! But for now, here are a few little details that I adore without giving too much away. 😂

There's one part that I really wanted to share with you, but I can't without revealing the whole mural just yet.

And that part is ... one of the characters has the most beautiful brown skin. And let me tell you why this is one of my favourite parts of the mural. As a mixed race woman, representation is something that's always been really important to me. And to look at this beautiful piece of artwork in our very own bookshop and see a character who looks a little like me makes me so happy. It's such a small detail to some, but to me it means so much.

I've always wanted HEA Bookshop to be so much more than just a place to buy books. I want it to be somewhere people can walk through the doors and feel comfortable, welcomed and like they belong. We will always try our very best to create a space where everyone feels included, represented and valued. And we are always learning daily what that means for you, our gorgeous community.

And I really hope that when you walk through our doors, that's exactly how you feel 🩷✨️ by @heabookshop

We're HEA Bookshop, a romance bookshop opening in Liverpool City Centre! But that's not all we do. We also have an online bookshop, host regular pop-up events across the North of England and once a year we have a HUGE get-together at HEA FEST, the UK's largest romance book festival!

Basically, we love romance books and finding any excuse to bring romance readers together. 🤣

So if you love reading romance, have a TBR that's completely out of control and want to find a whole community of people who understand your obsession, then you've found your people!

I wanted to share a little something with you lovely lot today. 🩷

The past 18 months of running our HEA Bookshop pop-ups have been incredible and I'm so grateful for everyone who's come along and supported us.

But it's not always smooth sailing and I think it's important to share the lows as well as the highs.

Ticket sales for some of our remaining 2026 pop-ups have been a little quieter than we'd hoped, particularly Leeds, Nottingham and Preston.

So if you've been thinking about joining us, we'd absolutely love to see you there!

Blood, sweat and tears have gone into this bookshop. Quite literally!

When we first got the builders' quotes back, I think we all collectively decided we would be spending a LOT more time in the shop than we'd originally planned. 😂

And so began our new careers in the building trade. We've had a go at everything from cleaning mould, self-levelling floors, laying flooring, putting up plasterboard and building more flat pack than i could ever imagine.

We've spent most of our weekends in the shop grafting away, trying to do as much as we possibly can ourselves to keep costs as low as possible. We can't thank Stew and Tony enough. Those two have done SO much of the heavy lifting and there's no way we would have been able to get this far without them. They've worked their absolute socks off and I'm so grateful for everything they've done to help bring this dream of ours to life. 🩷

There's something really special about looking around the shop and knowing just how much of ourselves we've put into it. Every little corner has a story, probably a few swear words and so much love.

We cannot WAIT to welcome you all through the doors on 14th November for our grand opening!!

But until then we've got another month of grafting ahead of us and I predict some VERY late nights for me and Becks making sure everything is ready for you all.

It might not be perfect, but my gosh, it's going to be filled with so much love. 🩷✨️

HEA Weekly 🩷✨️ this week is a very brief one. Not because nothing has happened but because EVERYTHING has happened and I can't fit it all in 😂

So the most important news is ... welcome to our lovely HEA Team!! We have the lovely Jodie, Kara and Erin joining us. I can't wait to get to know them more. Already the team bonding has begun with a lively group chat 😆✨️

We also announced our official shop opening on the 14th November from 10am. Me and Becks are gearing up for some night shifts in the shop to get it all stocked and ready to open. We'll announce the full opening hours and answer all your questions soon. We where supposed to do a Q&A on Saturday but the day got away from us and before we knew it, it was 5pm and I had to go and rescue my mum from toddler duties.

I hope you all had an incredible week, and have the best week to come 🩷✨️

Of course HEA FEST 2027 is all about romance books, but we couldn't just stop there could we?! 🤣🩷

Let me formally introduce you to our lovely Becks! @becks_o_bookshelf 🩷✨️

Our shop manager, part bookshop owner and my sister from another mister. 🤣

The day-to-day running of HEA Bookshop will be in the very capable hands of Becks! She'll be making sure our shelves are full of gorgeous books (the most important job, obviously), organising events, making sure the coffee is flowing and creating an all-round gorgeous atmosphere for you all to come and enjoy.

One of the things I love most about our friendship is how we are so different in so many ways, but also have so much in common. She's the unhinged to my woo woo, the organised to my chaos and the extrovert to my introvert. 🤣 Somehow it just works and I think we balance each other out perfectly!

If you've been following us for a while, you'll already know Becks is a huge part of HEA, but I'm so excited that we now get to take on this next chapter together.

I honestly can't wait to see what happens when two romance readers with a shared love of books, big ideas and a tendency to just go for things decide to open a bookshop together. 🤣

Coming to visit us at HEA Bookshop? 🩷📚

Welllll while you’re here, you may as well make a whole day of it in the best city in the world… I may be slightly biased 😂

One of the things I love most about where our shop is located is that there is SO much to see, eat, drink and do right on our doorstep.

So whether you’re travelling into Liverpool especially to visit us (which still feels completely mad to say 🥹) or you’re already planning a little Liverpool day out, here are a few places I’d recommend adding to your list while you’re here.

Books, food, drinks and a little wander around Liverpool sounds like a pretty perfect day to me 😂🩷
