It was a privilege to be asked by @kammoman and @jamesrupleyphoto to create the cover and frontispiece artwork for Tiger Stripe: The Vietnam Camouflage Story, the latest Kickstarter from @headstamp

This original artwork will appear as the book’s frontispiece, featuring a hand painted scene of an Indochinese tiger roaming through the dense jungle. I painted it directly onto the back of a 1960s US Navy G-1 because it was important to retain the texture of the goatskin, adding depth and authenticity to the piece.

There are also a few hidden details woven into the painting, so keep your eyes peeled. It was a pleasure collaborating with Owen and James on this project.

This book is going to be something truly special!!

Authored by film producer and long-time camouflage collector and dealer Owen Thornton, Tiger Stripe: The Vietnam Camouflage Story transports readers back to the early days of the conflict in Southeast Asia. Through an almost unimaginably diverse collection of authentic vintage uniforms, previously unpublished photographs, government documents, and historically significant (but largely forgotten) magazine articles, the book tells the story of one of the most iconic camouflage patterns ever produced. In total, it contains more than 1,250 images.
