A knockdown shooter at the collegiate and professional levels, Healy was a two-year starter and captain at New Mexico Highlands (NCAA Division II), leading the Cowboys in three-pointers made during the 2016–17 season while shooting 40% from beyond the arc and 92% from the free-throw line. He earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors and First Team All-Academic recognition, finishing with a 4.0 GPA. His collegiate career also included stops at Concordia–St. Paul (NCAA Division II) and Otero Junior College (NJCAA Division I), where he was named an Academic All-American. After serving as an assistant coach at Chadron State College (NCAA Division II), Healy went on to compete professionally overseas. Following his short professional playing career, he transitioned fully into player development, founding Healy Hoops, where he trains athletes at all levels with a strong emphasis on shooting and skill acquisition.Healy also currently serves as an Assistant Coach at the University of St. Thomas (Houston). by @healy.hoops

How can we get to where we’re “good” faster? Preparation feeds speed. The better the prep of the body, the better the path of the ball. A quick and effortless finish is an expression of the work we’ve done up until that point. Huge s/o @healy.hoops coming out to NJ and being open to learning + being a huge help with workouts. Some people just love to dig. I make shooting simple. Follow me :) by @healy.hoops

Basketball has a beautiful way of bringing people together around a common goal. What started through time spent in the gym has turned into a genuine friendship that I’m incredibly grateful for.Huge thank you to Miller Kopp for taking the time to do this. I asked for a testimonial and he went far above and beyond anything I expected.Miller is an incredible player, but an even better person — humble, authentic, and completely down to earth. The relationships built through countless hours on the court are what make this game so special.Grateful for the trust, the friendship, and the reminder that basketball is bigger than basketball. by @healy.hoops

Every great shooter isn’t built in one workout—it’s built by showing up consistently. One rep. One session. One day at a time. Stay committed to the process, and let the momentum take care of the rest. by @healy.hoops

Great shooters don’t just repeat perfect reps—they solve new movement problems every rep. One-hand catches, wraps, bounce transfers, drifting footwork… every constraint forces the brain and body to organize a new solution while protecting shot quality. by @healy.hoops

Great shooters don’t beat defenders because they’re open. They beat the contest because they’ve trained for it.Every contested rep builds confidence that carries into games.🎯 Guided Technique. Individual Adaptation. by @healy.hoops

The first workout isn’t about changing everything. It’s about identifying the details that matter most and building from there. 📈 by @healy.hoops

Why do I give players weird drills?Because development isn’t always about recreating the game. Sometimes it’s about expanding an athlete’s ability to solve movement problems. This split-lunge variation challenges balance, coordination, ball control, posture, timing, and adaptability while forcing the athlete to organize movement through unfamiliar positions. No, you’ll never do this exact movement in a game. But basketball is unpredictable. Players get bumped, rushed, off-balance, and forced into positions they didn’t plan for. The athletes who succeed aren’t always the ones with the “perfect” technique—they’re the ones who can adapt and find solutions when things aren’t perfect.Drills like this help:• Expand movement solutions• Improve coordination and body awareness• Develop dynamic balance and postural control• Increase ball-handling dexterity• Encourage self-organization• Build adaptability through variabilityThe goal isn’t to memorize movements. The goal is to develop athletes who can create answers when the game asks new questions.Guided Technique. Sometimes the best way forward is to work backwards. We started by helping him feel what it means to send the ball up and out from the set point. Once that feeling was established, we reverse engineered the shot.Beginning with the ball already at the set point, we slowly brought it down into the shooting pocket, then retraced that same path back up before releasing the shot. The goal wasn’t to memorize positions. The goal was to build awareness of the ball path, improve sequencing, and help him feel how the shot connects from start to finish. The better a player understands the route, the easier it becomes to repeat under pressure.Guided Technique. Challenging range isn’t about forcing the ball farther. It’s about exploring better sequence, timing, and flow as the demands of the shot increase. As distance increases, inefficiencies become harder to hide. The goal is learning how to organize movement efficiently while keeping the shot connected and repeatable under challenge.Intentional reps. Adaptation through exploration.Guided Technique. Contested movement shooting isn’t just about making shots harder. It’s about exposing players to different movement patterns, timing windows, rhythms, and visual problems while still organizing efficiently into the shot.Different footwork.Different entries.Different contests.Same goal: efficient adaptation under pressure. The game rewards adaptable shooters, not robotic repetition.Guided Technique.
