Tara has been building Tipis and Yurts since the late nineties. Decades on, he still loads vans, solves problems in muddy fields and helps raise the structures himself.

Osh runs the woodwork shop. His father is a wood craftsman too. He can tell you the moisture content of a piece of timber from the sound it makes.

Nichole has been the hub of the Hearthworks office for twenty years, often with the workshop cat on her desk. Her late partner Mick was Hearthworks’ main Yurt frame maker for many years.

Ruby is second-generation Hearthworks crew. Her father, Will, was one of the original Tipi and Yurt makers twenty-five years ago. She brings warmth, resilience and a sense of humour to even the hardest site days.

Tarim grew up around Tipis and Yurts and has worked with Hearthworks for more than twelve years.

Ruby, Bilal and Tarim are some of the crew who arrive on site before dawn and leave after everyone else has gone home.

They’re the reason your Tipi is standing when you arrive and the reason it’s still standing when you leave.

The tipis and yurts go up.
The sun’s going down.

Somewhere between the last rope being tied and the first guests arriving, the field belongs to the crew. This is the bit nobody sees. The bit after the work of villages installed, and before the festival. When someone puts music on and someone else starts cooking and the light turns everything gold and one of the crew does a backflip off the picnic table because why wouldn’t you. It’s not in the brochure. You can’t book it. But it’s the reason people come back summer after summer to build these by hand, sleep in the field, and do it all again the next weekend.

@womadfestival is live! So good to be back for 2026.

Amazing big old trees offering lots of shade on this beautiful new site. Boutique is completely sold out, and we’ve maximised the space on the ground, but it still feels really spacious.

The festival has all of the legendary WOMAD mix: the best music you’ve never heard of, fascinating talks, poetry, wellness, taste the world with global cuisine, and plenty of super nice people.

@greenpartyzack is about to take to the stage, and look at the size of that crowd!

Tara, our founder, is on site with the crew setting up backstage, including the artist Yurts, ready for the headliners.

Moon rising behind our Tipi village last night at WOMAD, gold caught in the cloud above the poles. A moment for our crew to take it all in.

Can’t wait for @womadfestival this weekend. The weather’s looking good too, not too hot, some sun, some cloud, and if there’s a little rain, our Tipis are fully weatherproof.

We’ve a couple of structures available if you’re coming to the festival and fancy something a little more comfortable under the same sky - real beds, power charging, full standing height and room to relax.

We have grown up with @womadfestival. It was one of the first festivals our founder Tara brought Hearthworks to, and we’ve felt completely at home here ever since.

Celebrating world culture and indigenous arts has been part of who we are since day one.

Back then we barely took a photo. Social media didn’t exist yet. Over the last 25 years we’ve served Chai and Love Potion from a giant Tipi, shown off our traditional Kyrgyz Yurt felt, and built out Yurt Saunas, Spa treatment rooms, a Human Library and a Sushi Yurt restaurant. Green rooms, artist and crew accommodation, and our flagship Boutique Camping area alongside Camp WOMAD, are all part of the story.

WOMAD returns 23-26 July, in its new home at Neston Park, Wiltshire.

In midst of festival season, a few weekends ago we installed one of our thirty-foot Yurts on a private estate for a very special party.

A Yurt like this at an event becomes the heart of the evening, helping create kind of atmosphere that stays with guests long after the night ends. Persian rugs, velvet cushions, firelight under canvas. There is nothing quite like it.

Hearthworks specialise in the handcrafting and installation of bespoke Yurts, including those with central fires and outdoor fire circles. These ancient structures are designed for human connection.

Our team are experienced and fully licensed to create and manage fire at private events and festivals. We love working with clients on private commissions like these.

When a festival ends the field has to be left better than we found it.

Off-grid isn’t a theme for a weekend, it’s the whole ethos. Handmade structures that come down and go up again next year. No landfill of snapped poles and abandoned tents. Just canvas and timber

You look up from the Tipi Field and the sky is smiling at you. That’s Glastonbury @glastofest.

We’ve been here managing the Tipi Fields and more for over twenty years. Long enough to know that the best moments aren’t the ones on the lineup. They’re the ones you can’t plan for. A sky like this. A stranger who becomes a friend by Sunday. The sound of the Tipi field at 4am when everyone’s either asleep or up ‘til dawn.

This year Glastonbury takes a restorative fallow year.

We’ll miss the mothership but let’s look to the incredible range of eclectic festivals still to come in summer 2026 across England to choose from.

The gates to Glastonbury would have opened now.

Most years, this is the week the fields are fully immersed in the magic of @glastofest 🙌.

Three hundred Hearthworks Tipis built by hand go up before the music starts. This year Glastonbury rests and the field stays grass.

We won’t be resting. This past weekend our canvas was up for the Solstice for both @wasing1759 and @gardenoftomorrowfest
