In 2004 I shook this man’s hand in SoHo —- in the pouring down icy rain. He had an umbrella and dimples. I needed directions to the R train. He was the only person around and stopped, smiled, shook my hand, and was the only one on the street at 2am— ahem. I had congratulated him for his Oscar in Mystic River, and he gave me directions. I’ll never forget it. A glance of a 1000 seconds. He even reached out his hand to introduce himself as if I didn’t know. One of the truest and rarest NYC moments @timrobbinshere ♥️ by @heatherjbates

In 2011 my mom had a stroke. Six months later I took this photo of her on the beach near her home where she finally came into her own—- deservingly so. There’s a ton of backstory to this but … I need people to know about hope and change. Incase we forgot living in this timeline. ❣️ by @heatherjbates

This trip beat me up and spit me out and then took care of me in all the ways I needed—- and I met some of the most amazing people in my life. 7 What’s Apps and 5 LinkedIn connections later —- I’m nursing my ankle sprain and now headed to Italy. Unforgettable 👏🏻@explorajourneys by @heatherjbates
