--- B I G N E W S !---⁠We are delighted to tell you that Sarah Jane Moon has been appointed as our new Course Director for the Heatherleys Diploma in Portraiture. ⁠Sarah Jane is well regarded as a professional portrait painter herself with an established reputation. She is the Chair of the Contemporary British Portrait Painters.Most importantly of all, she began her career as a young artist studying and then teaching at Heatherleys on the very same course she will now lead. We are all looking forward to working with Sarah Jane in her new role and our students can look forward with confidence to a stimulating and exciting course in the art of Portraiture.⁠⁠Sarah Jane takes on the baton from Minna Stevens who guided the course as its Director for nine years. ⁠I speak for both the school and her former students when I say how grateful we all are to Minna for her wise leadership, clear understanding and management of the academic goals of the course, and for the sensitivity and support she has been able to offer her students. ⁠This legacy is reflected in the creative lives and artistic careers of all her past students. We had a special guest last week in the printroom!⁠Artist and Heatherleys tutor @carlrandallartist got his hands inky while printing a drawing he made in 2006. This work is part of his Hibakusha Portraits, a series of portraits of survivors of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.⁠@printheatherleys by @heatherleysfineart
