My daughters!!! I’d like to think Ada and Ros would be friends! They could bond over their mutual hot messery and attraction to sad, broken men who struggle to communicate their feelings due to past trauma! I like what I like! I love one bed and messy broken MMCs with sad back stories. I am an absolute slut for a dancing scene and nothing revs my engine quite like eldest daughters and complex family dynamics. I love exploring the concept of failure (probably because it’s something I myself struggle with a lot) and women who aren’t sure they are deserving of the kind of love they crave. I also recently realized that I LOVE writing about exes??? Like so much? Like that’s probably why I love second chance because it’s the ultimate writing about an ex? The wounds are just RIPE for Big Feelings and introspection! While I think there’s often pressure to keep evolving as a writer, to do new things, to explore new types of characters and new avenues of storytelling, I love the comfort of returning to familiar, well-loved concepts. Of peeling back another layer of something I’ve already begun to explore and exploring it on a deeper level or from a different angle. by @heathermcbreenwrites

February wrap up + goodbye! February was truly an incredible whirlwind of travel, events, and meeting some of my favorite authors 💕💕 I’m exhausted but my pookie heart is full 🫶Which brings me to goodbye…Well guys it’s been fun, but in the best interest of my mental health and a general desire to take better care of myself emotionally (🥴), I’ve decided to say goodbye to social media. If you’d like to keep in touch, please subscribe to my newsletter on substack (The Plot Girl Walk). A day in the life with Mr. and Mrs. Woods Lately I’ve been thinking about what it means to miss my characters. After a book comes out it’s exciting to see people read and engage with it, but there’s also this sense of loss. This feeling that the book no longer belongs to me in the way it has. It’s no longer mine to shape and deconstruct and tinker with. Now it’s behind a glass case to be looked at, but not touched. So I think that’s what I mean when I say I miss my characters. I’m yearning for somewhere I can no longer return to. But there is something special about getting to decide what’s next for them and I think that’s a family and trips to London and a second honeymoon (technically first?) and dancing in the kitchen and lasagna and a novel dedicated to Roslyn’s mom 🥹🫶Sunk in Love is out NOW! My application to be on your love month tbr 💕Whenever I’m tasked with coming up with what my characters might be doing on xyz holiday I realize just how uncreative (or maybe pervy??) I am because I always think “they bang” lol. 💕YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS SAYING NICE THINGS ABOUT SUNK IN LOVE💕I’m incredibly honored and grateful that so many talented, kind, generous (hot!!!!!) authors were willing to read Sunk in Love and say nice things🫶🥹 writing is a solitary endeavor but these authors make it feel like a team sport 💕 if you haven’t already, read their books!!!! JanuWORRY wrap up!!!! Aka the month Ros and Liam set sail and I crashed out! 🌺 sunk in love launch at @thirdplacebooks with the fabulous @josegurabooks 🌺 tried the sunk in love float at @alwayssummer.cafe (it was delicious!!!) 🌺 event with my dear friend @amybuchananbooks at @thenewromanticsbooks (I still don’t know how bingo works) 🌺 finally got to hug @meganoliverbooks for the first time (we’ve been friends since 2021 but have never met irl!!) 🌺 @tehejadey surprised me by showing up in Orlando 😭😭😭 ilysm 🌺 pooked around nyc with @londonsperrywrites in 13 degree weather 🌺 saw Chicago on broadway (my all time favorite musical) and danced the whole way back to stay warm 🌺 got lost in the Met 🌺 ate gluten (specifically lasagna) and it was yummy 🌺 found out Traitors is a campy reality show and not a prestige drama🌺 had the viral hot chocolate at Glace and yes it was worth $13 🙂‍↕️🌺 had the best time talking about slutty men with pookie @londonsperrywrites at @loveandlegendsbooks in Brooklyn 🌺 thank you to @amandahopkinsauthor who came to BOTH Orlando AND nyc you’re a real one 🫶🌺 I know I missed something and I’ll think of it when I’m in the shower!!! 🌺 I have A LOT more nyc photos but ig only lets me post 20 and they tEcHnIcHaLlY took place in February so you’ll just have to wait until next month 🤭I’m home now and ready to cuddle with suki and take a nice long nap before I head to Sam Francisco (famously, my favorite US city!!!) next week!
