My favourite season is here! Autumn inspired my album concept for That Place, Darling - that feeling of letting go of one season and moving on to the next chapter. This gorgeous album art by @artbylillymason captures that feeling so perfectly 🍁🧡🍂

Shout out to @thisfragileearth for taking the photo the artwork was based on a magical trip to Utah.

Thank you @lindsayflowerskoh for sharing your artistry and knowledge with us today! What an inspiring performance by the @wingrawwq and a delightful reed class on cane processing and oboe gouger care and maintenance!

What an honour to get to present my musicians’ health research at the @idrsofficial #idrs2026 conference last week! This work is the culmination of years of research conducted during my doctoral studies and beyond, and it was so lovely getting to share my findings with the double reed community!

Music teachers play a vital role in supporting the health of their music students, and while staying within our scope as teachers there are many ways we can be there for our students: making sure students have great working instrument and reeds, encouraging ease and balance in posture and hand position, incorporating rest into lesson and practice plans, being kind and empathetic, positive framing and solutions-oriented teaching, and referring to medical experts when appropriate.

Thanks to all who came to my talk and joined in the discussion; I loved hearing your perspectives and ideas on how you implement these important ideas in your teaching studios to nurture a new generation of talented, happy, and healthy musicians. Wellness really is performance-enhancing!!!

Shoutout to my thesis advisor and co-author Christine Guptill @healthmusicperformance who couldn’t be there in person, but without whose valuable contributions to this research I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I had such a wonderful time presenting this lecture recital on @reenaesmail ‘s Pranayam for Oboe and Piano at this year’s @idrsofficial conference in Oxford, OH. I’ve been obsessed with this beautiful piece since it was premiered in 2022, and as a registered yoga teacher and avid yoga practitioner, I immediately knew I had to perform this piece and dive into the pranayama (yogic breathwork) practices that inspired it! I’m so happy to have gotten the opportunity to share this research at IDRS ❤️🕉️🧘‍♀️🎶

Come say hi at IDRS next week in Oxford, Ohio! I’m so excited to give these two presentations: first, a lecture recital on the pranayama techniques covered in @reenaesmail ‘s beautiful piece Pranayam for oboe and piano (7/8/26, 10:50 am in CPA 101), and second, a talk on my research “Playing injury-free: Practical applications of musicians’ health research for double reed teachers” (7/10/26, 11:10 am in Presser Hall 007). Hope to see you there! Let me know if you’re also performing or presenting at or attending IDRS, I’d love to connect with you!
