Today, our first born turns TWO!! How that is already possible is beyond me.. it feels like just yesterday we were bringing him home for the first time, and now on his second birthday he is cuddling his baby sister on the couch. 🥹🥰

This dude has grown so much over the last year, it’s wild. His favorite thing to do is mow. Yes, mow as in mow the lawn, rake the mulch, move the dirt with his wheel barrow, and move big rocks in the yard. Give him a “job” outside and he’s a happy boy. His favorite food is a toss up between chicken pad thai and broccoli, you know, every 2 year olds favorite foods 🤣 and his favorite words lately are “no” and “stop” 🫠 often used together! Unless of course he’s looking at his sister, then it becomes “awww” 🥹

To say I’ve had the time of my life the last two years with you, Grant, would be the biggest understatement. It’s been so much fun and I wouldn’t change a second of it for anything. Thanks for making me a Mom, buddy, it’s the best title in the world.

What a week!! I’m just back from McLean, Virginia, where I spent three incredible days at the 91st National Convention of American Mothers, Inc. as the 2026 Maine Mother of the Year.

Having Matt and Grant there to celebrate with me made the whole thing more memorable. There is nothing quite like watching your 20-month-old toddle around a hotel ballroom while you’re being recognized for the very thing he made possible: being his mom. This was also the last trip before our baby girl arrives, so getting to share the week away as a family of three felt extra special. Matt has been my partner through every chapter of this story, and I will carry this memory with me forever.

The biggest gift of the week was the women I met. Mothers from every corner of the country, each one carrying her own story of resilience, service, and love for her family and community. We laughed together, we cried together, we swapped numbers, and I came home with friendships I know will last a lifetime.

Being named Maine Mother of the Year is humbling in a way that is hard to put into words. American Mothers, Inc. was founded in 1935, with roots tracing back to Eleanor Roosevelt and J.C. Penney’s Golden Rule Foundation. The organization is the official sponsor of Mother’s Day in the United States and holds consultative status with the United Nations. To stand inside that 91-year legacy, even briefly, is an honor I will never take for granted.

To the moms who lifted me up, the family who showed up, and the organization that exists to remind every mother that her work matters: thank you. I came home with a fuller heart and a clearer sense of purpose. ❤️

The baby I started 2025 with…
and the baby I’m ending it with.

Last New Year’s Eve, Grant was 4 months old—just learning how to sit up and roll over.
Now he’s 16 months, learning to count on his fingers, signing, climbing everything in sight, and starting to carefully walk down the steps on his own.

Same baby. A thousand little milestones.

One year ago we brought our little guy up to Quill Hill and took a photo with him. As we were driving back down we decided it was going to be our family tradition on homecoming weekend to go do this and see the progression as he grows up. Here is year 1. 🥹

Grant is 11 months!! (Yesterday 😝) this month was a busy one: first steps, waving (to everything and everyone 🤣), swim lessons, first concert, seeing all kinds of family, friends and cousins, picking blueberries, summer days at camp and playing with toys in new fun ways (like playing with cars and getting on and off ride-on toys by himself 🥹) - time seems to be going SO fast, and the one year mark is quickly approaching. What happened to my little baby!!! Toddlerhood is coming in hot. 🥵 by @heatherpouliot
