Now Open: Heath Nock – Roamer at Gallery 144, Sydney 📍144 Commonwealth St, Surry Hills, Sydney 📅 30 October – 28 November 2026 🕙 Wednesday–Saturday, 10am–5pm “In these new works by Heath Nock, it seems as though the history of the world is no longer unravelling along a linear timeline, but is happening all at once. The figures find themselves thrown into proximity with seemingly impossible counterparts.” — Daniel Domig, from the exhibition essay @daniel.domig 🔗 View the exhibition catalogue via the link in bio. by @heathnock

OPENING THIS FRIDAY: Heath Nock ‘Roamer’ at Gallery 144 ‘Roamer’ presents new oil paintings by Lake Macquarie-based artist Heath Nock. Drawing on his Romani heritage and upbringing in a family of travelling showmen, Nock depicts figures who embody what Daniel Domig calls “the disposition of the roamer”: travellers in constant movement, searching without the promise of a final destination. “These encounters feel less like comical interpretations of pop culture than reverberations from a world that has neither past nor future, but exists only in the ultimate present: a present in which all our fantasies, fears, dreams, and terrors have folded back onto one another, until they can no longer be disentangled.” — Daniel Domig, from the exhibition essay @daniel.domig 🥂 Opening reception: Friday 30 October, 6–8pm. 📍144 Commonwealth St, Surry Hills, Sydney 📅 Exhibition runs 30 October – 28 November 2026 🔗 View the exhibition catalogue via the link in bio. @heathnock Pictured: Heath Nock ‘Showmads’, 2026 Oil on linen, artist frame 66 × 51 cm by @heathnock

Raised in a family of travelling showmen, his practice is shaped by an unconventional upbringing and experiences of life on the periphery.
