A Map and Not a Tracing

“I am writing a novel. But no. This – this is not a novel. This is not fiction. This is living. A blur. A memory made concrete. This is not a novel.
This is an (un)novel.“

New from Heavy Cloud Press – the debut novel by Ryan Hooper explores the interconnectedness of memory, identity and grief

Told through the lens of Alice Green, a multidisciplinary artist navigating personal loss and anxiety in Cornwall, this deconstructed narrative invites readers into a textured, layered world of memory, identity and creativity.

Alice and her family’s stories unfold not in a straight line, but through interwoven fragments that echo how we remember, forget and reimagine the past.

Available from Heavy Cloud Press in paperback and eBook editions (link in bio)

Memory isn’t a path – it’s a rhizome.
Trace it with us.

Three new releases are up on Bandcamp today. ✨

1) Stelzoway is attracted to lines and loops and the extraction of textures from local landscapes.

2) The Wanderer collects recordings from wanderings collected in Cornwall and Devon.

3) Achilles brings together a three act archive of outsider collage.

Physical items have sold out (thank you!) but digital is available on Bandcamp as free/pay what you feel – downloads come with PDF versions of accompanying written and collage work.

New from Heavy Cloud Press – Cloudlets is a memoir in fragments. Written as brief, drifting observations, these cloudlets map the interior weather of a mind learning to endure.

Part autobiography, part philosophical notebook, part poetic experiment, Cloudlets weaves together meteorology and mythology, art history and loss, Plath and Turner, Debussy and Mount Eerie and more. Threaded quietly through the fragments is the making of a cloud opera, its libretto emerging alongside daily life.

Cloudlets is available from Heavy Cloud Press – link in bio.

Kosmos, the latest poetry issue from the amazing @azarao_lit_journal, is out today.

A big thank you to @aftermath.poems for including my poem Thalamus (after Lorine Niedecker) alongside some amazing writers.

As always, the full issue has been lovingly curated and is available to read on Azarão‘s website. It’s a thematic and visual treat. A great read on National Poetry Day in the UK.
