"We become excessive through what we lack, which is evident when weaknesses lead us to develop strengths or a failure drives us to work harder for success."

"The link between lack and excess constantly confronts us, but the commodity form’s image of pure excess tells us that we can break this link and experience excess without anything missing."

As Hegel points out in the Philosophy of History, “The unfree spirit knows truth only as a beyond. The spirit that is free is spirit for itself, is not through an other.” Quoting McGowan in Emancipation after Hegel by @hegelbooks

The state for Hegel nudges us into our freedom by alienating us enough to show us that we become who we are once we become our voice as political beings who don't seek freedom by destroying their constitutional freedom. But who build up freedom by proving that in our alienation we are ready to become our own cause. If you are free, prove it by taking the pain of freedom with the resolution of full alienation. by @hegelbooks
