We are on to something so good and so beautiful! We dreamed a little dream, took a little risk and followed the shalom bubbles! Our 1st “Marked by Love” workshop was magical! Thank you Jesus for the journey of knowing you, knowing ourselves and knowing each other. Stay tuned for the next one! We’re just getting started 🤍✨🪩 by @heiditconsulting

To know yourself is to love yourself.

I typically live out of my suitcase during my travel adventures.
Why? Well, I suppose considering I’m not at home and will most likely be packing up to return home sooner than later, unpacking seems like a waste of time. Instead, I choose to stay ready to go. I try not to get too comfortable or attached, knowing fun times eventually come to an end anyway. After all, I would hate for that disappointment to catch me by surprise.
A few days ago I arrived at our apartment in Guatemala City, to visit my daughter. As I wheeled my suitcase into my bedroom and began the usual settling in routine, I paused to ask myself this question, “am I living true and dialed into this now moment or triggered and semi-resistant to it?”. My heart voice responded. Curiosity led me into leisurely unpacking my suitcase. As I began placing my clothes in the closet, I felt a gentle shift in my nervous system. My pace slowed down, my body relaxed, my thoughts cleared and my heart softened. I recognized my triggered brain was fully convinced that in order to protect myself from the inevitable pain of leaving, I needed to refrain from fully connecting to and living inside of, the now moment. To unpack or not unpack was neither right nor wrong. This time, I simply decided to explore the resistance I sensed, and in doing so I was able to uncover the tender emotion of scared and meet my little self there with compassion. I gave her an invitation to dance, rather than brace herself for goodbye before the music even started. To my delight, I not only unpacked my clothes, but a few gifts for my heart as well. I experienced the tangible substance of enough, acceptance, value and play. The truth is, it’s safe to stay, to linger and to enjoy. I am Home. Home is me.

As I was walking around Guatemala City, I I was stopped in my tracks by a live location that has forever time-stamped my motherhood journey. I stood there on the street mesmerized in honor & celebration of my 35yr old self:

“I see you brave one. I feel the pull of your fierce mother heart ushering you onto your first solo international flight. I hear the sounds of a language you don’t fully comprehend while sensing you move so freely to the rhythms of a love song, dedicated to your son. I am so proud of you. You truly are a resilient woman who says yes to wild adventure with Jesus. Of course you’re scared. That makes sense. Who you are Heidi is already enough, always has been, always will be. I’m with you.”

She really was & really is a super star!
As I paused & connected to the embodied essence of my true self I could feel the embrace of compassion wrap around me layered with wonder & promise of a creator who designed me, my children & my family with divine faithfulness, fully committed to us. Together there on the street, God & I counted the cost of the colorfully complex story we have been & are continuing to co-write.

I invite you to pause for a moment & be present with yourself. Establish a point of connection by placing your hand gently over your heart, on your shoulder, the back of your neck or your forehead. Take a deep breath through your nose & exhale fully through your mouth. Speak phrases of compassion & truth to your mind, heart & body, letting love in.
“I see you. You are worthy of time & affection. You make sense. I see how hard you’ve been trying. Your story is valuable. You are not alone. I’ll stay with you until you feel safe.”

nuanced and…
a promise is a promise.

Roman lays in this window every day at the office. He often turns his gaze toward East Pine Alley. I can’t help but wonder if he’s hoping to spot his person. Although I have told him many times already, Roman can’t quite fully understand that today his person is coming home to him! It has been 6 months since last he saw her. He will soon be ecstatic, yet currently he is connected to safety, resting in the now moment of the window. Leaning into acceptance releases both desperation and urgency. He has not given up the dream of spotting her walk down the red brick alley. He has given up the idea that he (capital N) needs the dream, to be ok.

the touch, the warmth, the comfort, the twinkle, the with-ness encountered in every indulgence of “the sigh” leaves me feeling just a little more connected, loved and OK. #lifecounsultant #emotionalhealth #bewithyourself #theresnorush #itsgonnabeok by @heiditconsulting

Go ahead, take a seat. No need to wait for peak season. Yes, the lavish up- swing of it all can be thrilling, and yet… even in the midst of less than perfect conditions you are worthy of love, safety and connection. You have permission to be right where you are. There is extravagance to catch in the now moment. The off season will fade as the snow falls and covers. Your value will be securely kept. The chair of acceptance and belonging has always been yours. Go ahead, take a seat. by @heiditconsulting
