This summer, Heirloom got a little sweeter. 🐝🍯

Last spring, we welcomed bees to our little corner of Denver as part of our continued commitment to growing, sourcing, and creating food with a deeper connection to where it comes from.

This weekend, we harvested our very first honey.

And somehow, these incredible little workers produced 12 quarts of raw, unfiltered honey.

Extracting it was messy, exhilarating, a little intimidating, and honestly one of the most incredible experiences we’ve had at Heirloom. It gave us an entirely new appreciation for the work that goes into something as simple and beautiful as a jar of honey.

We are still very much learning the art of beekeeping, and we’re incredibly grateful to our bee mentor, Jenny, for guiding us through this first season.

From our garden, to our bees, to the farmers and makers we partner with, this is what Heirloom has always been about: knowing where our food comes from, honoring the people and creatures behind it, and creating something meaningful from the ingredients around us.

And now we have 12 quarts of Heirloom honey to start dreaming with. 🍯✨

We already have a few menu ideas brewing…

bc you can have both vibes. idk who’s telling people you have to settle when it’s literally you’re wedding day.

@denverbotanic is the perfect venue for the romantic garden party vibes. you don’t really have to do much for this to be a beautiful backdrop. the solarium (green structure) is blocked off from the public offering the most private space the garden offers.

@brasseriebrixton kept the romantic vibes going with amazing food and room to hangout with friends and family. conveniently connected to @yachtclubbar where the married couple could share a few PBRs and hotdogs (iykyk) with their homies.

you can have both, just make sure you hire a vendor team that sees & honors the vision.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

On June 9, 2012, I married the love of my life. Marriage equality wasn't yet the law, but that didn't stop us from celebrating our commitment with 160 of the people who loved us most.

Our community made our wedding possible. Friends cooked, arranged flowers, played music, officiated, and showed up with open hearts. They gave us a day we'll treasure forever.

Not every part of our story was easy. My wife's family embraced me with unconditional love. My parents chose not to attend. I walked myself down the aisle—not because I had no one, but because it reflected the journey that brought me there. At the end of that aisle, I wasn't just gaining a wife; I was being welcomed into a family.

During our ceremony, we asked everyone to hold hands and promise to remind us of our love when life became difficult. Fourteen years later, they've kept that promise.

This is why Pride matters.

At Heirloom Catering, we don't simply cater LGBTQ+ weddings—we understand them because we've lived them. Every couple deserves to feel celebrated, respected, and surrounded by love.

We're honored to walk beside you, not just on your wedding day, but every step of the journey.

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of catering a beautiful Celebration of Life for a truly special family.

Their father was a gardener, an orchard keeper, and someone known for extraordinary generosity. The kind of person whose hospitality made everyone feel welcome, nourished, and at home.

To honor his legacy, we created a menu inspired by the things he loved. We hand-crafted saffron corzetti, a traditional stamped pasta whose intricate designs tell a story long before the first bite. We finished the meal with saffron ice cream and pistachio cookies, bringing together flavors that felt both elegant and deeply personal.

Food has a remarkable way of preserving memories. Every stamp in the pasta, every thread of saffron, and every shared meal became a small tribute to a life well lived.

It was an honor to help celebrate a man whose love was cultivated through gardens, orchards, family, and a table that was always open to others.

Back in 2018, Zach started Rebel Bread⁠ in our Curtis Park kitchen. Watching him grow from those early days into one of Denver’s most beloved bakeries has been such a joy, and I couldn’t be prouder of everything he has built.

Now, somehow, we’ve ended up in the same building again.

This weekend we had the opportunity to cater a family celebration together. Zach fired up his coal-fired pizzas while we prepared seasonal appetizers, fresh salads, and saffron ice cream with pistachio cookies for dessert.

The food was wonderful, but the real highlight was spending the day laughing, hugging, and working alongside one of my dearest friends. These full-circle moments are rare, and they remind me why I love being part of Denver’s food community.

Here’s to old friends, shared kitchens, and the businesses we build together. 🥂

It’s salad season, and we are here for it!

Meet our Deconstructed Pesto Pasta Salad — a light, bright celebration of spring flavors and Colorado-grown goodness.

Fresh farfalle pasta tossed with shaved asparagus, crisp radishes, sweet spring peas, peppery arugula, chopped basil, and Parmesan. Finished with toasted pine nuts, fresh lemon zest, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, and a squeeze of lemon juice for the perfect balance of freshness and flavor.

This dish is everything we love about the season: vibrant, simple, and packed with ingredients that let the produce shine.

At Heirloom Catering, we don’t just talk about using local ingredients and growing our own vegetables — we live it every single day.

All of our vegetable scraps are composted and brought back to our micro-farm, creating a full-circle system rooted in sustainability and respect for the land. During busy season, we bring a minimum of 20 gallons of food scraps each week to our compost piles.

This is what that process looks like firsthand: rich, living soil created from what would otherwise become waste. The same earth that nourishes the vegetables, herbs, and flowers that inspire our menus.

Good food starts long before it reaches the plate. 🌱♻️🥕

There is something truly magical about the stylization of the Woodland Mosaic at Denver Botanic Gardens. Between the lush hanging florals, the soft natural light filtering through the glass, and the romantic garden atmosphere, this space feels like stepping into a dream.

Every detail of this celebration came together so beautifully, reminding us how important thoughtful vendor collaboration is when creating an unforgettable guest experience. From the floral installations to the atmosphere inside the conservatory, this event was pure garden romance. 🌿✨

We are incredibly grateful for our amazing vendor partners whose creativity, talent, and hard work helped bring this vision to life. Working alongside passionate professionals is one of the best parts of this industry.

Happy Mother’s Day to our very own Zola — the mother of Heirloom Catering. 💐✨

For over twenty years, Zola and Michelle have gone from dancing at the club to talking about kids, life, and the future while cruising around in a Honda Odyssey (which Zola proudly loves 😂).

Now, while managing payroll, scheduling employees, and running events, you might also catch her yelling at her kids about the dishes needing to be done before their dad gets home. A true working mom in every sense of the word.

Zola is the calm, the backbone, and the heart of Heirloom. Our clients love her, our team depends on her, and she somehow keeps all the chaos moving with grace, humor, and love.

And remember… don’t let the kindness fool you — she will absolutely keep everyone in line. 💅🏽
