Truly I've been doing my best to keep my hopes afloat these past few months as I pack up and prepare for permanent departure from my safe place, my childhood home. Dreaming up good situations for myself and my little bird, though finding that's tiresome and lonely work. Some days I wake up sick. Sick from the potency of anxious dreams. Sick with worry and anguish for the day I'll no longer be able to come back home.

Some days I crumble and time alone drags me forward. Other days, I treat myself like a loved one. I linger at the coffee shop, happy to be in my own company. I make french toast at 5pm, fried in bacon fat. I cut the tops of strawberries and halve them, remembering that effort is worthwhile.

Beautiful day of connection yesterday with the living and the dead. November 1st is my dear sweet Gram's birthday, and since her transition to the other side, I've made it a point to continue celebrating her on that day. Even in death she continues to shape and guide me. I'm grateful for her help in coming to observe All Saints Day as a way to connect with my ancestors🦋

I felt very blessed being able to use some palinka and homemade beeswax candles in my ceremony yesterday. Palinka is truly a sacred spirit, representing healthy connection to the land and one's community. Beyond grateful to my Romanian hosts for sharing that special connection with me 🥰
