I've improved the colour of the leaves on the sunflower mixed media collage and have been doing some finer detail. It's almost finished.

Does anyone know a word meaning a feeling of both happiness and sadness? I'm sure there must be one. It's always a sad moment when I say goodbye to a painting that I have spent many hours creating, but also happiness that they will bring someone else joy (which, after all, was the whole point of painting it). The Dancing Fuchsias have been delivered to their new home today.

I'm exhibiting @highdowngardens near Worthing this week until 27th September with @deborah_crago @artofellie @fionahooperartist and @potsandpansiespottery . What a lovely bunch of artists. We're showing a selection of botanical and landscape art and some beautiful pottery.

I'm just finishing off a new mixed media collage for the Horsham Contemporary Art Fair this weekend. I put quite a few coats of varnish and wax to protect the surface.

If you're going to the art fair I'm at stand 20. Come over and say hello.

I enjoyed learning more about the collage process that @helenandre42 uses. I couldn't do it myself ... far too messy with all that glue!

Helen tears appropriate pictures and wording from magazines and seed catalogues to create amazing pieces inspired by the nature in her garden.

I've been sharpening up the edges and darkening the shadows on this hydrangea drawing. I'm not 100% sure it's finished - I'll come back to it over the next few days.

The great news is that I need a new pencil, so a genuine excuse for going to an art shop!!

The first time exhibiting this fella. It's made from collage and oil paint - the first time I have combined these two mediums. I used gardening magazines and plant catalogues to create the collage and water mixable oils to cut down on my environmental impact. The sunflower itself came from my garden and I chose to paint it from this angle to show off the beautiful curves of the petals. To me it looks like it's rising out of the chaos and brokenness of the collage into the beauty of the oil paint. It's called Healing Sunflower.

It's on display @highdowngardens until the 27th September.

What should I paint next in this style?

Working on my latest mixed media project, using oil paint with collage for the first time. It's about how flowers can heal the broken. It feels like it has been a leap of faith as to whether it would be as good as the picture in my head. Maybe it's getting there.... I'll give you a closer look next week

Sometimes it's worth really taking your time to get something right, no matter what's going on around you. The man behind me in the queue at the framers was not impressed with how long it took the framer and me to chose the right frame for my tomatoes. But I'm so pleased with what we came up with.

It's going to be on show at the Horsham contemporary art fair this weekend. I'm counting down the days like it's Christmas ❤️
