There’s something magical about painting on a large scale. You don’t just paint it—you step into it. And when it’s in your home, it becomes something you experience every day. Living with large-scale art creates a space that inspires, changes with the light, and quietly becomes part of your life. I’ve shared a little more about these recent works in my latest newsletter, now linked in my bio. 📸 @christinelundyphotography by @helenvanstolk
A little glimpse into my world, my practice, and the journey that brought me here — from a corporate career to a life shaped by colour, nature, and painting. Thank you to a dear friend, photographer, @christinelundyberger for capturing this studio conversation so beautifully. by @helenvanstolk
In the studio with two of the five works before they travelled to London a few weeks ago. Flow of Wonder sold at the fair — Where Water Dreams is still available with @fineartconsultancylondon I love them both! #abstractpainting #contemporaryart #capetownartist by @helenvanstolk
A few moments from Art Basel Paris… Two days immersed in extraordinary art, breathtaking large-scale work. A truly international art world. What struck me most was the sheer appetite for art — so many people wanting to look, linger, absorb and be inspired. And a little Parisian fashion observation… so much black! 🖤 A few glimpses of the art, the atmosphere and a little after-party magic. A great ending to my residency - a celebration of art! @artbasel @galeriesbartoux @lesgaleriesbartoux @citedesartsparis #helenvanstolkart #artfairs #artfairparis #lovingart by @helenvanstolk
You are invited ! As my 2 month residency draws to a close I celebrate all that Paris has given me with my Open Studio tomorrow evening. I came to Paris to immerse myself in art. I leave having allowed Paris to immerse itself in me. PARIS, you are a gift! Thank you to SANAVA, the Cite @citedesartsparis and all the artists here who have been so generous in their sharing. #artinparis #artistresidency #helenvanstolk #openstudio by @helenvanstolk
There’s something I love about watching people look at art. The pause. The curiosity. The way someone leans in, steps back, gets lost for a while. Paris is full of people absorbing art — really looking. I’ve loved noticing this almost as much as the art itself. A little reminder of why we make it in the first place. To make someone stop. To feel something. To wander somewhere else for a while. Just as we do as the artist when making the work. What a joy to look at the looking ! #helenvanstolkart @citedesartsparis by @helenvanstolk
Week Three in Paris ✨ Reflecting on the past week! Incredible exhibitions, dancing on the Seine, musicians appearing around every corner, and open studios with artists from all over the world. So much inspiration, colour, creativity… and a little bit of magic everywhere I turn. 💫. And to top it off a few special days with my sister @wendyhuckett Paris, you’re something else. 🇫🇷❤️ by @helenvanstolk
From Paris with Love 🇫🇷 Paris is slowly finding its way into my work and my heart. Through light, gardens, water, old paintings, museum walls, dancing, quiet moments and the sheer joy of having time to look, wander and paint. I’m beginning to see where this new body of work might take me… I’ve shared a little more of the journey in my latest newsletter. If you’d like to subscribe DM me and I’ll add you to my list. 💌 #FromParisWithLove #ArtistInParis #ParisResidency #HelenVanStolk #AbstractPainting ContemporaryArt by @helenvanstolk
