🥀 From our first shoot together with @hella_riffs

These images are incredibly precious to me for a few reasons. Two of them being wrapped in grief, but also because I got to create something so fun with my friend when I needed it. The editing was done by me! Last photo just for the joy of it haha.

We survived the Texas heat, bug bites, and me coming down with a fever right after this shoot. 😂 circa 2024

Two attempts were made (and failed) at a long exposure photo tonight on South Padre Island. Initially I wanted to capture star trails, but there was too much light pollution (thank god the Margaritaville resort has two giant floodlights pointed at the beach that illuminate absolutely nothing) and the barge riding the horizon wasn't moving. What typically makes a long exposure interesting is motion, and there was nothing in motion.
But hey, atleatse I tried. Better photos are coming. by @hella_riffs

The Banshee; February 1st, 2026.

- Gather at the banshees call.

It yearns not to be heard,

But for those who hear

To behold for whom it sings.

- This is no solemn song

Or a cry to fear in the night.

It is a sound to some or others

And a request to the chosen few.

- Come hither to me, bare thy ears,

Open ones eyes to shed thier tears

The gathered clan is now one fewer.

Do not mourn but a second sooner.

- Twas not I that turned the dagger,

Nor did I predict this passing.

I merely sung to someone loved

And their spirit became everlasting.

- Take no shame or guilt with thee

As the sentence comes to pass,

For too shall I diminish from here

I saw an ad for a crafty hip gadget thing and thought a buddy of mine would probably like, but I thought I could make it myself. So I did!

The broche is my first set of strings from my string 5 bass guitar that I looped together and tied the ends off by looping it through the ringlet and bending it closed.

Inside is a keyring tied and tangled into the strings. I put split rings on small lengths of chains and tethered on end onto the key ring and through the broche while the other end had tools attached; heron scissors, custom stich markers, a cage for trinkets and bobbles, and a jar for whatever. I also included a Keychain screwdriver that they can switch out when they want.

This was a photoshoot I did with @duality_digital in the last leg of 2024. My goal for the shoot was celebrate my sadness, something that I've never been able to shake since adolescence. At the time I was beginning to make peace with my sadness and use it to create, love, and try to inspire whoever I can.

Not long after the shoot, 2 days into 2025, tragedy struck and I lost my childhood cat of 17 years. I hear people sometimes refer to a death as "not a tragedy" due to their age and how expected the event was, but I think regardless of how long the expectation is drawn out, loss is a tragedy.

A beautiful partnership of mine ended, my grandmother's health and awareness declined significantly, the stress of a new role at my job, ending a lease with good friends, so much lonliness, the world itself seeming to set itself on a perpetually growing fire, and tertiary tragedies I witnessed from being around my friends and family. All this seemed to come down on me like relentless microburst storms. One thing after another. I'm proud of myself for having come out the other end of this year just as tall and proud as I was going into it.

I know the turning of years does not mark the ending of patterns or tragedies and that they will continue sporadically, but it's been a good month and I spent it with good friends and family. So I'm ending it on a good note

Some of the photos were taken digitally, but the few dark photos you're seeing were taken on a small plastic "toy" camera that used film. It was the first time being used by Adriana and I think they came out perfectly in tune with the tone I had in mind.
