💖 Pinay in Plastic, It’s Fantastic 🎶🇵🇭
Kickin off this month with a lil BTS of this piece I made for the American Asian group show at Avondale Arts Center on May 9
This work plays with the contrast between the vintage American Barbie box that’s glossy, plastic, and pink & and the elegance of the modern traditional filipiniana dress. It’s a little playful, a little nostalgic, and a lot about identity.

She doesn’t come with a purse or puppy. She comes with a balisong (butterfly knife) and a yoyo, because yes…Filipinos invented both. And a tabo cause IYKYK and I thought it was funny. A little nod to ingenuity and heritage.

The original doll design was by @carlylenuera and I was so inspired when I saw it. It made me feel really seen as a FilAm and I knew I wanted to bring it to life in my own way for this show.

So come through to the show May 9…gunna be a dope lineup and grateful to be part of a space that makes room for stories like this. @nicolekangahn @avondaleartsalliance

I still can’t believe I did that! I feel like I was literally living in a Disney Movie. 5 days of extreme sun, torrential rain, a whole lotta hard work and a little sprinkle of magic.
They said to do a mural and make it personal….I said, say less. ✨

From my childhood dream of wanting to design for Disney, working at Animal Kingdom and operating Dinosaur the ride for a summer, losing an internship for Yellow Shoes and then gaining an internship for Walt Disney Imagineering…. I took my newly found interest in murals a little more seriously this year and now I’m out here doing a mural for Disney! I did that! So surreal, my 5 year old self would be so proud.

There are hidden sayings in each arch…
Work Hard. Stay Humble. Be Nice to People.

Sticking to my creative roots and paying homage to the legendary @apowhangod the OG traditional batok tattoo artist from the Philippines.

I created this piece for @kamayartsandmusic and used duct tape to recreate the iconic Philippine Vogue cover, celebrating the unwavering spirit of this 106-year-old living legend. This is one of my largest tape pieces yet 💪🇵🇭 #ducttape #tapeart #filipino #batok #ApoWhangOd #aapiheritagemonth #aapi taken in Underground Atlanta by @hellaleah

I cannot handle how amazing @forgottenislandmovie was. Legit might be one of my favorite movies of the year. The lore! The music! The visuals! The humor! They went SO HARD representing our culture.

It’s like The Hangover meets Inception meets Moana. A little unhinged in the best way, even a lil scary, and HELLA GOOD.

And the DETAILS!!! The fact that they even had GIGIL in there?! I was gigil over the fact that they included gigil 😂 Like COME ONNNN.

Seeing so much of myself, my family and our culture reflected in these characters on the BIG SCREEN?! I felt so seen 🥹🇵🇭 And watching it in a theater packed with kababayan made it even more special.

I’m obsessed. TAYO NA!!!

MY KNEES HAVE BEEN SHOOKETH ⚡️

Three days, a rainout, a whole lotta duct tape, and some spray paint later… that’s a wrap on my first @shakykneesfest

Had so much fun bringing this Hazy Little drummer pup to life with @sierranevada and @livingwallsatl Had to throw in a little ATL flavor with the lemon pepper “drumsticks” (although flats are elite) 🥁

A mix of tape, spray paint, and a little improvising along the way. Elite vibes, good music, good company.

Big love to everyone who stopped by, said hey, helped me fill some tape, and watched another Pepe piece come to life. 🍻

Did we need a @practicalmagicmovie sequel? No, but am I glad we got one? YES it was decent and a fun watch

More witchy, a little darker, but still the same humor + vibe that made the original so fun. It was honestly so cute and nostalgic

I loved that they extended the story to the next generation, but at the heart of it, it’s still about sisterhood… and maybe midnight margaritas 🍹#practicalmagic2 taken in Tara Theatre by @hellaleah
