I used to like foxes until I had outdoor cats that they harass. Light em all up

My adult dogs have been taught their whole lives to ignore everything including livestock and wild animals. But savvy has to learn how to do the task that simba and nala did. They come almost daily but the more I run the dogs at them, the less frequently they come. We also have a neighbor cat that harasses mine as well so it’s best to just keep the presence and pressure there ❤️ by @hellashepherds

I decided to enter savvy into regionals in the PSA1’s because I thought since we never closed a leg of the 2’s, I was able to go back down. I was wrong😂 so she had zero prep and hasn’t done any psa2 behaviors in 2 years. After learning that this morning, I was going to just leave cause the weather was horrible.. it was freezing and windy and raining. But this was her last competition and I knew she’d have fun either way so I said fuck it! I knew we would probably fail this scenario. She doesn’t usually bite in obedience but with the context of a 2 man set up, not having done a send to transport in years, or secondary in general it went exactly how I thought it would. I was thinking about going behind them or placing her next to them instead but I couldn’t decide and ran out of time.

But me and her always have a blast on the field together, even if she was rusty and bit.. there are not many dogs that with zero prep and 2 years since the heavy secondary and scenario training can still have a half decent routine. I know my other dogs wouldn’t. I’m so honored to have stepped on the field with this incredible dog many times and it has been the privilege of my life to be on this journey with her.

I stopped competing in the 2’s after many rule changes so she was already retired since our last trial but I figured we’d do a regional event one more time before officially retiring her. She’s a full time house dog and has been for a long time. Happy retirement savvy. Thank you for giving me such an amazing 6 years, I never have, and never will take it for granted. When you say goodbye to all 3 of your first dogs within a year, the pain is so unbearable you just become numb. You have no option but to keep going because you have other dogs (and I have a toddler). And I’ll say, im so grateful for that. Because if that wasn’t the case, I don’t know if I could have kept going after this immense loss times three.

I’m doing my best to feel but also keep busy. I’ll be honest, this time I am feeling more numb than after Kiki and Nala. It worries me. So I’m trying to take time and be with myself. Accepting and feeling are important. Emotions are important. It’s not healthy to not cry that much (after the day we said goodbye). The overwhelming loss that I’m feeling and experiencing has to come out.

Getting closer to cert! Haven’t done detection in the last 2 weeks, too much going on between Simba and being super sick. So we are a little behind but have 1 more odor left (mdma) and have to do a little more with m*th and we’ll be good to go 🙏🏼✌🏼 taken in New Jersey by @hellashepherds
