HPV self-swab: can you trust it?
For routine screening, yes—HPV self-screening is reliable when validated PCR-based HPV testing is used, and studies show it performs similarly to clinician-collected HPV samples.

It’s also a big win for comfort and access: no speculum, more privacy, and for many people it’s simply easier.

BC friends: you can choose self-screening through the BC Cancer Cervix Screening Program if you’re eligible and due.

šŸ’¬ Question: What would make screening easier for you—self-swab at home, or clinician-collected?

Getting a positive HPV test can feel really scary — and you’re not alone. šŸ’› The good news is that not all HPV is the same: some types are considered low-risk (more likely to cause genital warts), while others are high-risk (the types we watch more closely because they can lead to cervical cell changes over time). We’ll break down what ā€œlow-riskā€ vs ā€œhigh-riskā€ actually means and what happens next. Follow Hello.Vulva this month for our HPV series: clear, stigma-free info, bite-sized tips, and answers to the questions you’ve been afraid to ask. by @hello.vulva

HPV 101 🧠✨
HPV is incredibly common—and most people will have it at some point. The good news: most HPV infections clear on their own, and we have powerful tools to prevent HPV-related cancers.

Over the next month, we’re doing a simple, evidence-based HPV series:

āœ… Pap tests vs HPV tests
āœ… vaccine FAQs
āœ… ā€œI got an HPV result—now what?ā€
