hey it’s me 👋🏻 your grieving friend. just sharing some of my favorite pics of Bear to remember.

Bear was truly unlike any dog I’ve met. He did not show affection by licking. I once put peanut butter on my nose just to feel what it was like for him to lick my face 😂 he did show affection by snuggling. he was such a snuggle butt. He didn’t eat sticks or chew on furniture, and he was always a little nervous. In our first year together, he would bring my shoes or clothes from my laundry hamper into the living room for me to find when I got home from work 😂 maybe he was telling me he missed me…or maybe he was just being mischievous and telling me “how dare you leave!!!” He was such an incredible boy.

When they say “in loving memory” these are the memories I think of. then there are the memories of his final hours that traumatized me in the early weeks of his passing. Those are sharp. My sadness is right under the surface of my skin, all the time, and if one of these memories stings me, it all spills out. I miss my boy so much. He was so good and so silly and he loved us - like REALLY loved us.

🌈 BEAR | our sweet sunshine boy crossed the rainbow bridge on 2.4.22 and my heart is in pieces. This is the type of love I don’t know I’ll ever fully recover from. What a gift his little life was to me, to both of us. From his wet black, boopable snoot, to his stinky lil paws that I loved so much, from his big brown eyes and big soft ears to his little legs, crisscrossed when he would sit down. His whole personality changed when I gave him a bow tie - like he already knew he was a gentleman on the inside and then it showed on the outside.

Bear gave me his best, and I soaked up every drop. I gave Bear the best I had in me, and nothing I could have done would have stopped the inevitable, but that’s why we do this. To have loved him so deeply and fully meant having to lose him deeply and fully. He was beautiful and magical, and I thank God I got to see the world through his eyes - full of wonder and joy over how amazing the world was. He taught how to do the same and we’ll carry it with us wherever we go. My buddy. My boobie baby bear. You be a good boy while we’re gone now, okay? 🧡
