Dubai is insane! I've never seen so many incredible perfumes from around the world in one place. And let's be real, the Arab world loves their fragrances… I thought I knew a thing or two about fragrances… I learned so much and my collection definitely grew more than I expected! I love fragrance, but this took it to a whole Nother level !! taken in Downtown Dubai by @hellodaaaaavid

Sohag 2025 - My dad’s city.

“Why do you keep coming back?”

My family asked me this a few days ago in Sohag, a small, undeveloped city in the heart of Egypt. Don’t get me wrong—they want to see me. But I’ve been three times in four years. They know what it costs. Money, yes. But more than that.

It’s the hardest trip I make.

Sohag is a place where poverty presses on everything. Electricity fails. Garbage lines the streets. The spaces feel cramped and suffocating. And underneath it all, a darker weight: the persecution of Christians is real in a country where your religion is printed on your ID card and your name reveals your faith before you even speak.

Women are crushed under religious fundamentalism. Students are robbed of opportunity if they don’t excel in 12th grade. People are trapped by circumstances they were born into.
So why come back?

Because of the people.

Over 1.1 billion people live in similar conditions. But for me, it’s not a statistic. It’s my family.

In my entire life, I’ve spent less than ten weeks with these people. Ten weeks with people who remind me of my dad, who I connected with so deeply before he passed.

And here’s what they’ve taught me: wealth isn’t measured in currency.

My dad’s city may lack economic wealth, but they possess something Dubai, Switzerland, and Los Angeles can’t offer. A richness in how they welcome you. The attention they give each other. The thoughtfulness woven into every gesture, every meal, every conversation.

My father passed away 15 years ago. I honor him by coming. But I do it for more than that—because understanding what truly matters beyond a bank account is worth everything. by @hellodaaaaavid

Dubai 2025 - new city and so grateful for it. Already planning my next trip. At first I was not sold on Dubai, but now I get it.

What’s insane for me is that it’s a mix of my culture and living style. Arab and bougie. 😆 taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @hellodaaaaavid
