I always thought I’d have children once I had my life all figured out, but God had different plans. My daughter came into my life and became the reason I healed, discovered myself, and ultimately created #HelloHairBook. What started as a book for her to see how beautiful her crown is, has grown into something that’s positively impacting young girls around the world. 👑🙏🏾

I’m beyond thrilled to share that Hello Hair will be on Dragons’ Den @cbcdragon this season! 🐉(the 🇨🇦 Shark Tank) This has been a dream of mine since childhood — to actually be living this dream is surreal! 🥹🎉

My passion is entrepreneurship, but my purpose is Hello Hair! It’s about representing, educating, and celebrating the beauty of our natural hair. Save the date October 3rd @ 8pm and stay tuned as we share more #BTS! 🎬🍿

Hair education is about so much more than learning how to braid, twist or style our crowns! 👑

It’s about understanding what our hair needs, recognizing the importance of scalp health and developing healthy hair care habits that we can carry with us for generations to come🌱

At Hello Hair, our styling dolls and books are just a small part of who we are. From hands-on workshops and hair clinics to community conversations and learning through play, we’re creating spaces where children, families and caregivers can explore textured hair care, connect with their roots and build confidence along the way.

Because the more we understand our hair, the better equipped we are to care for it, celebrate it and pass that knowledge on to the next generation🧡

Whether you’re just beginning your natural hair journey or looking to deepen your knowledge, there’s always something new to learn, and we’d love for you to learn alongside us!

What’s one thing you wish you’d learned about your hair growing up? Share it with us in the comments! 💬 by @hellohair_book

Part 2 is here, and this time we’re twirling 🧡✨

In this Bantu Knot tutorial, our founder Anita is showing us the twirling method, another way to create this classic style while building your textured hair styling skills one section at a time.

If you watched Part 1, you’ve now seen both techniques: the pre twisting method and the twirling method. Neither one is about doing it the “right” way. It’s about finding the method that feels most comfortable in your hands and continuing to practice🌱

Now we want to know, which team are you on?

Choose TWISTING or TWIRLING in the poll to tell us which method you prefer for your Bantu Knots! 👑 by @hellohair_book

Because our hairstyles deserve their own book! 📖🧡

Remember sitting between your mum’s knees getting your hair done, or watching your auntie work her magic with a comb and a little bit of patience? From braids and twists to Bantu knots and puffs, so many of the styles we grew up loving carry memories of the people who taught us to love our crowns.

And now, we get to share that same love with the next generation! 🥹

Our Hello Hair Book is filled with 100 different hairstyles celebrating the beauty, creativity and versatility of textured hair, giving our little ones (and the grown-ups too!) endless inspiration to explore new styles, revisit old favourites and have a little fun along the way.

Because learning through play is also about celebrating where we come from and making new memories together🌱

Bantu Knots, two methods, one beautiful style 🧡✨

In Part 1, our founder Anita is showing us how to create Bantu Knots using the twisting method, breaking it down step by step so you can practice right along with us.

Bantu Knots are a beautiful way to practice your textured hair styling skills while connecting with a style rooted in generations of Black hair and culture. And remember, it’s all about practice, not perfection. Every twist is another chance to build your confidence🌱

Grab your Hello Hair Styling Doll and twist along with us!

Want to learn the twirling method next? Comment PART 2 below and we’ll show you how! 👇🏾 by @hellohair_book

Do you know your hair porosity? Save this post to get to know your crown a little better 👑

Hair Porosity describes how well your hair absorbs and holds onto moisture, and understanding it can make it easier to build a textured hair care routine that actually works for your crown 👑

Whether your hair has low, medium or high porosity, learning how it responds to moisture is a great place to start.

The goal is not to change your porosity. It is to learn how to care for the hair you have.

Every crown is different, but understanding how your hair behaves can help you make more informed choices about your routine🌱

💦 Low porosity hair has tightly packed cuticles that can make it harder for water and hair products to penetrate the hair strand.

🪮 If products tend to sit on top of your hair, buildup happens easily or your hair takes a while to become fully saturated on wash day, your hair may have lower porosity

💦 Medium porosity hair tends to absorb moisture easily while also holding onto it well.

🪮 You may find that your hair responds well to a variety of products, stays moisturized for a reasonable amount of time and feels relatively easy to maintain between wash days.

💦 High porosity hair absorbs moisture quickly, but it can also lose that moisture just as fast.

🪮 More open areas along the hair cuticle can make high porosity hair more prone to dryness, frizz and breakage, which is why moisture retention can become an important part of your natural hair care routine.

Knowing your hair porosity can help you understand why certain products, techniques and hair care routines work beautifully for one person but not for another 🌱

When you understand how your hair absorbs and retains moisture, you can make more intentional choices around hydration, product application and your wash day routine 🚿

Try the hair porosity float test at home💦

1️⃣ Take a clean strand of hair with little to no product on it.

2️⃣ Place the strand into a glass of water.

3️⃣ Let it sit for a few minutes and watch where it settles.

Hair that remains near the top is commonly associated with lower porosity, hair that settles around the middle with medium porosity and ha by @hellohair_book

Learning how to do Fulani braids? Start with this simple style on Tiana 🤩

For this look on our Hello Hair doll, Tiana, we’re practicing some of the basics that make braiding feel a little easier over time: detangling, clean parting, even sections and cornrowing with intention💜

Start with freshly detangled hair, create your middle and ear to ear parts, then divide the front section based on how big or small you want your cornrows to be. Take your time with those parts, braid each section, secure the ends and you’re done ✨

Every style is another chance to practice, build confidence and get more comfortable working with textured hair.

What hairstyle should we try on Tiana next? Let us know in the comments📝👇🏾 by @hellohair_book

MUMS👏🏿 YOU👏🏾 SHOWED👏🏽 UP👏🏻 - For Mums Who Can’t Braid (Yet) was our biggest gathering yet, and what an afternoon it was.
Progress, confidence, connection, all in one room. Hosted with so much warmth by @mamadinya & to make sure your skills are tight the talented hairbytia was on hand to teach you how to braid. An afternooproudly supported by our friends @palmersuk

Clean parts. Real progress. Real talk. That’s the energy we love to see.

And we’re not slowing down… our 25th October date is officially SOLD OUT, but we’ve got you.

What’s happening underneath your crown? 🔬👑

We spend so much time learning how to style, moisturize and care for our hair, but healthy textured hair care also starts with understanding the scalp underneath it.

At the Hello Hair Clinic, our microscopic scalp camera gives our community a closer look at things we cannot always see with the naked eye, from dryness and product buildup to irritation and changes that may be worth paying more attention to 🔍

Because hair education is health education, and the more we understand about our scalp and textured hair, the more confidently we can care for our crowns🌱

When was the last time you really checked in with your scalp?👀 by @hellohair_book
