'Tis my birthday and I am celebrating by eating my weight in middle eastern food at @maharestaurant and hanging with my family!

This year has been hectic, both good and bad things with many lessons learned. I also find it hard to believe that Having a Yarn this time last year was just lil ol' me and a handful of clients, where now i've got an amazing team of people and even more amazing clients! Hello hello,
I have launched my online community engagement channel on TWITCH. This has been a project I have been slowly chipping away at in the background of study, work and my hectic life. This is a place where I will be hosting and teaching people knitting and crochet skills online. I would like to use this space to build a ‘third place’ community and I would like to hopefully explore other fibre arts and the culture and history behind them!

"No nonsense kindness" is a term I read this morning and I think this captures exactly the philosophy I try to imbue in everything that I do for my clients. No request or idea is too big or too little and nothing is ever to bland or silly!

I constantly refer back to these books during my studies and I often recommend them to friends, family, colleagues and clients!
Here is a quick overview:

#thebodykeepsthescore - explains how interconnected mental health and physical health is! This book helped me and continues to help me on my own personal health journey

#traumaandrecovery - explains the processing of trauma with focus on female stories and their recovery journey. This one is heavy, not for the light hearted but incredibly important.
#thecuriousincidentofthedoginthenighttime - a fiction story written and read from the perspective of a teenager with autism. Allows the reader to understand the thought process of a teenager with autism.

#growingupdisabled - an anthology of short essays and stories from Australians with various disabilities. Happy and sad experiences and really emphasises the intersectionality of living with a disability
