so @stellafarnan and i released a record :’)

we’re @wishlist.band and it’s called ‘big sign’

i find life to be really confusing, and a lot runs around in my brain - i think (like many of us!) i have this desire to try and pin down all of my experience - all of the things i’ve ever learnt, heard, known, seen, tasted, smelled and try to crystallise it into something - everything that feels potentially profound or consequential or meaningful

as well, at times in the last few years my mind has felt full of fear and doubt too - overwhelm, a feeling of being unable to connect certain dots and pieces together - a kind of clash between things in me that yearn for a sense of rightness/perfection and the things that fight against that and value brokenness/imperfection too (the existential kid lives in me!)

basically - i feel like i constantly move between feeling like a mess and feeling pretty here on earth too - and i constantly feel the grief of somehow not making the most of things, or not doing things the right or best way, with literally any tiny thing - or being relatively hard on myself for not managing to synthesise all of my knowledge and experience into something that makes sense, in some reverent honour of the ridiculous miracle of being alive

making music with my friend stella (and making things with the many beautiful, amazing people in my life) and releasing this record now, i get a sense of relief from that feeling for a moment - some peace that stella and i have spent time (real time that i definitely remember for sure that was real) making something that we enjoyed making and that we just like - it’s like we’ve gotten the chance to try and capture all of the chaotic energy of life into some pop song

and that pop song format feels good to me, because songs have this potential to communicate emotion so effectively and they can be very giving - they are hopefully there for the person listening (and the people who made it) for anyone, they connect us - i think there’s something really honest about that - i think about car trips and bus rides and long walks and special shows and quiet/loud moments alone

it’s stella bridie day i’ve decided! she just got back from the big us tour so it’s time to celebrate ❤️

i’m really lucky/grateful/excited to have been a part of @stellabridie’s debut EP Speaking Terms

the last few years we’ve got to hang out, make our favourite audio all together and be overall very, very silly

i produced Headlights with @japanesewallpaper (this is my favourite thing i’ve ever worked on - listen to it! @hamishpatrick’s mix is incredible too)

i also played drums on Organ Donor and did some additional production on He Didn’t Mean It

i love great songs and i love big shows and and i love my lovely friends - it was all of those things. feeling very grateful and lucky to be a part of it all - thank you particularly to kat, meg, lewis and everyone involved ❤️

one more important part of my last year was playing drums with the incredible clover blue in the clover blue band !! it was so good and lovely

we played some beautiful shows, we saw the world and the ocean too
