On the 9th of July, I had the honour of joining the newly rebranded Singapore International Jewellery Expo @sijexpo 2026 as a panel speaker for “Rare by Nature”, a conversation close to my heart, on the true scarcity of natural gemstones.

Heartfelt thanks to Pamela @adiscoveryofunicorns and the SIJE team for the invitation, and to IEG and Ilaria Cicero (CEO) for their vision in positioning Singapore as a true hub for fine jewellery.

And of course, I couldn’t have asked for a better co-speaker than Guillaume, a very good friend and mentor, and one of the most knowledgeable gemmologists I know. Thank you for saying yes to this, and for specially carving out the time amidst your sourcing trips.

This Thursday, 9th July, I join a dear friend & gemmologist Guillaume Chautru for “Rare by Nature: A Conversation About Coloured Gemstones in 2026”, part of Jewels & Journeys at the Singapore International Jewellery Expo. We speak from 3 to 5pm at Marina Bay Sandw Expo & Convention Center.

There’s just something so magical about paddling across calm waters with the iconic city skyline right beside you.

I’ve cycled past this route countless times and never tire of this view. So when a friend mentioned he keeps a Canadian canoe here, I jumped at the chance to ask if I could take it out around Marina Reservoir.

Tis season has never been my favourite. It’s always been the busiest, most overwhelming time, the crazy buzz, the crowds, the back-to-back events. It all used to get to me.

But somehow, this year feels different. Despite the stress, challenges, and loneliness of running my own business, there’s a quiet sense of gratitude I didn’t expect to find.

Grateful for clients who believe in me and placed their trust in me. For the remarkable people I’ve had the privilege to meet along this journey. For the friends who’ve stayed, even when I haven’t been at my best.

I chose to be on this path alone, but I know I’m not alone.

I’m moving at my own pace now. Learning, growing, and building something meaningful.

And I promise, I’ll keep getting better. 💗 by @hellojesslinetan

Finally experiencing this stunning restaurant, nestled in the lush greenery of the Botanical Gardens. Managed to catch a glimpse of the beautiful sunset just before our dinner. Stepping into the heart of a Balinese village, @lodgeinthewoods , I was instantly enveloped in its beauty. Bernard’s vision & his love for preserving nature and animals permeated every aspect of this haven. This is Version 2.0 of grumpy Chef Doi’s fine dining joint! Just him, one-man show, from reservation to cooking & managing the restaurant. I can say multitasking isn’t his forte but i give him credit for his bravery & efforts! I swear he offers you a much tamer version of Gordon Ramsey, no swear words for sure, only alot of ‘zhrks!’ and ‘sighs’! 😅

If you are all for a good service, pls run far, far away but if you are game for some unique dining experience with a fairly well-priced fine menu ($98++ for 5-course meal), try lar! It’s quite a nice hole-in-wall experience. And don’t have be scared by the chef’s grumpiness, I can assure his concentration is purely on his craft and I truly appreciate that!

Oh, and I finally got to try the IG famous curry rice supper! This is at additional cost of $15! It’s yummy and heartwarming but give me abit more meat, pls! Afterall, I’m a very well grown adult! 😜😉

Enjoyed the Flavours of Malay Archipelago specially curated by Chef & Owner @kevinwongxx at @seroja.sg .

The menu is a homage to the islands of the Malay Archipelago where Chef Kevin came from. There were familiar flavours such as the laksa leaves (my favourite), kaffir lime leaves, ginger flowers, etc - the spices which u find in most malay or nonya dishes. Lots & lots of ‘rempah-ish’ touches.

My favourite dishes would have to be the TIRAM - beef tartare; HOKKAIDO SCALLOP which was accompanied by a deep fried bread which I used it to wipe up all the sauces on the plate; and the TRADERS RICE which is slightly unpolished rice grains which has a nice bite to it… and which I mixed it with the sauces from the percik-marinated beef short ribs, basically I ‘nasi-padang-ed’ it! 😝

Overall, was a very delightful evening with the Seroja team & my foodie buddy @niccolechan . Now, where’s next? 😉 P.S: IG, pls don’t mute my music, okie? 🥹 taken in Seroja by @hellojesslinetan
