I don't really have words. I feel supported and appreciated and seen. It is the greatest honor of my songwriting and artistic life to be seen and to be heard by such a strong musical force as Lucinda Williams. Each time I'm in her presence I feel this way. The show went very well, all of them did, but Lu quietly made a highlight of my life by, separately from any crowd and in the wee hours of the night, when she sang with me on my song "Highways." I'll never forget it. I won't forget the connection, the validation, the absolute strength she exudes. In my opinion, that song will never sound better. When someone you respect so damn much asks you to sing, you sing. I don't know how I kept my composure, but I'm as grateful as I can possibly be.
