Hell Yeah’s @buenaondabalearic returns with another postcard from the Adriatic that is shaped around label head @marco_peedoo_gallerani ’s August residency at @kai_beach_bar on Italy’s east coast. This time the journey follows the whole afternoon, from that first post-nap stretch into sunset and, eventually, subtly, on into proper beach-party territory.

There’s a nice mix of dreamy, Balearic-leaning moments and more playful, offbeat grooves that tap into the slow-burning energy of time spent at the famous Lidi Ferraresi. My Friend Dario’s 'Acid Panorama' sets the tone with laidback strings and synth sequences that wash over you like a breeze, while Secret Soul Society shows up in fine form ahead of an album on the label later in the year. Firstly, his remix of Verdo's 'Ballad' is dreamy downtempo, then comes the first of three exclusives - a remix of Bonnie & Klein that is glistening and liquid dub, while he also features in a widescreen collaboration with Flash Atkins. Dawn Again, Tonarunur, Blende and The Vendetta Suite keep things moving, with plenty of warmth and summer charm.

Two more exclusives are a big part of the appeal - Dawn Again’s remix of Caramel 3000 is an irresistible broken beat set-builder with a heavy chug, and the Deep Heat Dub from The Vendetta Suite is an acid-infused wobbler. By the time Fango, SIRS and Luminodisco take things towards the finish, Buena Onda has gone from lazy afternoon listening to something a little stranger and more aimed at after-dark dancing.

Hell Yeah welcomes back @tonarunur for an EP of future-facing Balearica straight out of his native Iceland. Someone Else EP is drawn from vast production archives and reveals two distinct sides to his sound, with artwork from @planetlukedotcom

Tonarunur last appeared on the label with a track for the Buena Onda compilation in 2021, and has also released his unique blend of electronic boogie and space disco on Citizen of Vice, Eskimo Recordings and Whiskey Disco. Whether laying down horizontal Sunday sounds or soundtracking the dance floor, he always brings a strong sense of personality.

Both A-side cuts feature Norway's bass player Arctander, starting with opener 'Someone Else' is a lithe mid-tempo groove with a playful, wriggling groove and sun-dappled 80s keys. The blissful 'Dawn' unfolds slowly through liquid rhythms, gently broken beats and cosmic melodies awash with good vibrations. On the flip, 'Lundur' drifts into the stars on shimmering pads and floating grooves and is romantic yet melancholic, before 'Lundur 2' closes with a more grounded rhythm and wispy melodies tracing patterns across a starry night sky.

My Friend Dario has been hooked up to his machines crafting a new album, but in the meantime, he drops six melon-twisting dub cuts for freaky late back rooms.

The new album comes two years after the summer essential, Senza Estate, and explores a new Mediterranean sound. The ever-unpredictable Italian continually rewires acid, nu-disco, breakbeat and electro and has been busy playing gigs all around Sicily, including with acts like Melbourne duo OK EG at Opera Festival.

'Check Up' is a slow, dark descent into a damp underground cavern with psychedelic swirls, 'Ossa' is slow, lurching deep techno for fans of Donato Dozzy and 'Blood Flow' is a cavernous post-dubstep world with echoing hits and dark jazz motifs that linger like smoke trails. 'Subcutaneous' is all spectral synths and paranoid voices that drift in and out of your consciousness and 'Joints' rides on a dub riddim with flickering vocal fragments and inky bass. 'Follow Up' is a submerged ambient drift that suspends you amongst alien lifeforms.

Verdo's debut album Gratis Club back in February proved why he is so well regarded and now the Italian is back on Hell Yeah, this time with fellow Senigallia DJ, Alessio Mandolini aka Bianco Inferno. The pair serve up a quartet of surefire acid weapons which have been mixed by Nicola Zanetti aka Fango.

'Technology' is a straight-up jacker with throbbing bass and caustic claps all tied together with a gurgling acid line. 'Your Secret' is super sleazy with synths fired from lasers, drilling bass and tricky acid that wobbles all over the mix as ice-cold drum machines cascade below. 'Bring The Beat' cuts even more loose with slamming drums and yelping vocals that bring a terror-fueled intensity as the 303s work in overdrive. 'This World Is An Illusion' is unbalanced acid house chaos with angular rhythms and attitude to spare.
