Canisius ‘31

It is a great privilege to say that I made it to Division 1 Lacrosse. To my Dad- Thank you for the loving sacrifices you have made to get me to this point in my life, without you none of this would be possible. From a young age you’ve planted that seed of hard work and passion into me. You were the one who introduced me to this game many years ago, and for that I am forever grateful. To the rest of my family and friends, thank you for your undying support and guidance throughout this journey and throughout life. I wouldn’t be the same person I am without you guys. To the coaches who have built me; Coach Shipp, Coach Scheldt, Coach Zimmerman, Coach Reid, Coach Shelli, Coach Tackett, Coach Corey, Coach Collen, Coach Burke, and Coach Meachum. Thank you for believing in me and helping hone my craft over the years. Through your mentorship, you all have taught me various aspects of the game that I will continue to carry on into my collegiate career. And to the Canisius family; Coach Miyashita, Coach Marks, Coach Thomson, and Coach Webster. Thank you for believing in me and blessing me with the opportunity to compete in your program. I won’t let you down. #AGTG #LLCM

"The Edge 8 family and coaching staff are proud to recognize and celebrate one of our exceptional athletes, Freddy Helmen. Being part of Freddy’s lacrosse journey and recruiting process has truly been an honor for all of us.

Freddy took a leap of faith by joining Edge 8, making the trip from Indiana to compete with us in high-level tournaments throughout New York and Florida. From the very beginning, he brought a relentless work ethic, strong skill set, and outstanding character traits that set him apart both on and off the field.

We are excited to say that Freddy will continue his lacrosse career at Canisius University, competing at the NCAA Division I level. Canisius is gaining not only a talented player but a young man who represents everything you want in a teammate and leader." - Director Christopher Shelli

Great 9-3 victory over a hard-fighting Team 91 Tristate Select at the IMLCA Players Summit.

Freddy had some great goals this tournament. The textbook way to use your defenders as a screen.

This was an epic battle of a game vs. the best Silverbacks squad at the IMLCA Players Summit 2025. Great goal, Freddy!!!

Both teams battled relentlessly for 4 quarters. But in the end, the Edge 8 Elite players handled business as they do.

Declan drawing 3 defenders, classic dump to Freddy for the goal. Let's Go!!!
