Such a pleasure to hang out with Autumn Knight during their exhibition ‘Can’t Complain’ at the ICA. Their approach to collaboration and experimentation across performance, film and installation is so original and invigorating. Thanks to @pablo_oto for the long distance matchmaking. Can’t wait for the second two’Party Pooper’ performances, tomorrow and then at the exhibition’s close in November. Creative inspiration like this is not to be missed, London! @icalondon @autkni by @helmut_recko

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. It was a low-key one for me this year as life has been a tad overwhelming personally and globally. I celebrated by indulging the dogs in an extra long bout of squirrel chasing in the local park and picking up sushi for lunch. I wore my new birthday t-shirt celebrating/reconciling myself with my HRT-enhanced bouncy 🍒. Tried to come off HRT over the summer and all the menopausal symptoms of anxiety and instability came back, so it looks like I’ll be sticking with it for the while. Hoping against hope for better things to come. 🤞 by @helmut_recko

Sometimes you get to hang out with your feminist sheroes! Such a pleasure to spend time with Mira Schor at her first UK (mini) retrospective ‘WET / London’ at @mimosahouselondon . We talked about painting and process, banned words in Trump’s America, viscosity and embodiment, living with and honouring the spirits of Mira’s remarkable artist parents (and literary theorist sister), and so much more. Catch Mira in conversation at the Courtauld Institute on Monday 12 Oct, and see what I make of our exchange in a forthcoming issue of Burlington Contemporary when I get a chance to write it up. @mira_schor by @helmut_recko

Such a pleasure to catch ‘This Must Be the Place,’ curator Katie Simpson’s witty, quirky, creepy exhibition inspired by her birthplace of the Fens. Held at the fab Solid Haus gallery and studio, Woodbridge, Suffolk, run by Ryan Gander. Congratulations to the artists (and apologies for not keeping track of their names so that I can note them here; it was a heatwave and I was on holiday). 🙌 one of the joys of teaching curating is seeing talented former students like Katie come into their own. 🐕 nb Dogs are dogs and not artworks 👌 @katie_simpson @solid.haus by @helmut_recko

Surviving another heatwave in and around Beccles and Bungay, Suffolk/Norfolk borders. River Waveney walks and swims, bunny chasing on Beccles Common, composting toilet in our log cabin (not pictured 😉), buzzards and green woodpeckers in the expansive skies, drive-through laundrette and Big Boobs Only. Batteries officially recharged. by @helmut_recko

I did not know Jason Arday but I know the cruelty of the academic culture that killed him. Rest in Power Jason Arday. Shame on the doubters and the haters, the tokenists and the media parasites who hounded him. Painfully accurate reflections here https://paulddf.substack.com/p/who-killed-jason-arday?r=3qs8t&utm_medium=ios *Comments now turned off to stop the vile trolls 👿 * by @helmut_recko

Another Orna-inspired question! My friends who are looking for a couples therapist have realised that the price of most practitioners is eye-wateringly expensive and therefore beyond their means. 💰 They are therefore looking for low-cost options and considering working with a therapist-in-training. Their question is which training institutes might be the best fit: Tavistock? Philadelphia Association? British Psychotherapy Association? 🤔

They are looking for a queer-friendly, open-minded, insightful therapist; London’s version of NYC’s beloved Orna. by @helmut_recko

I had a blast at Anne Robinson’s FDRG workshop, ‘Making Songs, Spells and Mischief,’ from reading aloud from Jenni Fagan’s astonishing ‘Hex,’ to discussing queer haunting and time travel as witnessing, and watching a film of The Charmers performance. 💥 The highlight for me was cowriting Time Hex, surely a future anti-capitalist classic, and performing it with my other tonally-challenged bandmates Angry Ranters (or was it Wanky Bankers?!). 🎶 my teenage ambitions to front a band found belated, ardent expression 👊 @anrobs @feministduration by @helmut_recko
